Biography

FIFTH-YEAR (2023): Appeared 17 of the team’s 18 matches, making four starts… Finished the year with a goal and two assists, attempting 15 shots and putting seven of those on frame… Scored his lone goal of the year at Air Force (Sept. 3) as part of a 3-1 victory on the road… Added assists at Gonzaga (Aug. 27) and at Pacific (Sept. 7)… Attempted three shots in a match twice against Utah Tech (Aug. 31) and the Tigers… Played in a season-high 72 minutes at LMU (Sept. 10).

SENIOR (2022): Appeared in 15 matches for the Hornets, making four starts on the year… Finished with a pair of goals and two assists on the year for six points, attempting 10 shots and putting six of those on frame… Scored his first goal of the season as part of a 4-1 win at Saint Mary’s on Sept. 1, and added his second against Loyola Marymount on Sept. 8 — the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over the Lions… Finished with assists against Gonzaga on Sept. 11 and against UC Davis on Oct. 29… Attempted a season-high two shots twice against Pacific on Sept. 4 and the Aggies.

JUNIOR (2021): Played in 16 of Sacramento State's 18 matches... Started three matches, the first three of his career... Made his first career start on Sept. 5 at home against Gonzaga... Scored two goals and tallied two assists in his second full season with the Hornets, good for six total points... His goals, assists, and points were all career highs... Attempted 10 shots, placing five on goal, and scored twice.. His .200 shot percentage (two goals, 10 shots) was best on the team among players with at least 10 shots... His .500 shot on goal percentage was tied for second best on the team among players with at least 10 shots... Scored a thrilling game winner against UC Irvine on Oct. 2, scoring in the 87th minute to put the Hornets ahead, 3-2... Scored his second goal in the team's final game of the season, finding the back of the net at UC Davis on Oct. 30... Averaged just under 40 minutes per match (39.4) and saw double-digit minutes in all 16 of his matches... Played a season-high 76 minutes on Oct. 20 at UC Santa Barbara... Totaled 631 minutes played.

SOPHOMORE (2020): Season canceled due to COVID-19.

FRESHMAN (2019): Due to a preseason injury, did not make his Sacramento State debut until Oct. 16 on the road at CSUN... Played in just five games, all as a reserve... Attempted three shots, including two in his debut at CSUN and the third on the road at UC Riverside on Oct. 26... Placed one shot on goal... Played a season-high 26 minutes in his debut at CSUN while totaling 98 minutes on the season.

NATOMAS HS
A four-year varsity player who had a record-setting career for the Nighthawks under head coach Geovanni Villalobos... A Sacramento native, Cervantes scored a program-record 113 goals in four years with the Nighthawks, including 43 in his senior season... He also added 17 assists in his final season... He was named the team's MVP in three straight seasons from 2017-19 and was an All-Greater Sacramento League selection in both 2018 and 2019.
