Michael Warren enters his first season on head coach Mike Bibby’s staff as the director of basketball operations.
Warren has obtained numerous awards as an administrator and head basketball coach, which includes being inducted into the Arizona Interscholastic Athletics Administrators Association’s (AIAAAA) Hall of Fame in 2022. He was also named Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Athletics Director of the Year in 2012, and received numerous Coach of the Year honors.
Warren was the Director of Athletics at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Ariz., where Bibby was the head coach. In fact, Warren served in the A.D. role from 2012-18, and hired Bibby to be the head coach in 2014. Warren oversaw all programs at Shadow Mountain, and the basketball team won four state championships during his tenure.
Prior to Shadow Mountain, Warren was the Director of Athletics at Westview High School in Avondale, Ariz., from 2002-12.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native also has 16 years of head coaching, spanning both the junior college and high school levels. That includes stops at North Canyon High School in Phoenix (1999-02), Glendale Community College (1987-97), Tolleson Union High School in Tolleson, Ariz. (1984-87), and Hayden High School in Winkelman, Ariz. (1981-84).
Some of his coaching accolades include the Desert Valley Region Coach of the Year, two-time Arizona Republic Coach of the Year, and two-time Arizona Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Arizona State in 1980, and later added a master’s degree in educational administration from his alma mater in 1990.
Warren and his wife, Pam, have three sons (Cameron, John and AJ) and eight grandchildren (Capri, Carson, Brady, Brooklynn, Scarlett, Riley, Cooper and Charlie).
