Biography

2020-21 Season
Played in 14 games, including four starts…averaged 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 7.8 minutes per game…shot 71% (10-14) from the field and was 2-for-3 from the 3-point line and 9-of-12 from the free throw line…had a career-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting against Fresno Pacific…also had seven points vs. Bethesda…of his 20 rebounds during the season, 10 came on the offensive glass.

2019-20 Season
Played in 10 games in his first season with the Hornets…posted season totals of four points, 15 rebounds, three assists and three steals in 47 minutes…averaged one rebound every 3.1 minutes played…shot 2-for-3 from the field…had two points and seven rebounds in 11 minutes vs. UC Merced…had three rebounds in four minutes in a home win over Montana State.

Prior to Sacramento State

Played two years (2017-19) at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, Calif…as a sophomore, Monteiro was the starting forward and team captain for the Mustangs who finished 23-7 overall and won the Big 8 Conference championship with a 14-2 record…named first team all-state and conference MVP after starting all 30 games, averaging 17.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game…shot 57% (209-369) from the field, 65% (13-20) from the 3-point line and 71% (101-143) from the free throw line…of his 307 rebounds, 118 came on the offensive glass…scored in double figures in all but four games…a two-time first team all-league selection at Delta, he averaged 8.1 points and 7.8 rebounds as a freshman…that season, he shot 54% (80-149) from the field and 77% (43-56) from the free throw line…played in all 55 of Delta’s games during his two-year tenure, starting all but one of those contests.

High School
A 2016 graduate of Lodi High School in Lodi, Calif…as a senior in 2015-16, he helped the Flames to a Tri-City Athletic League championship…that year, he was named first team all-league and honorable mention all-area after averaging 11.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 50% from the field…of his 157 rebounds, 69 came on the offensive glass.
