Biography

2016-17 Season
One of three player to start all 31 games…served as a team tri-captain…averaged 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocked shots and 29.8 minutes per game…shot .504 (129-256) from the field, .380 (19-50) from the 3-point line and .712 (74-104) from the free throw line…raised his scoring and rebounding average every season of his four-year career…among Big Sky leaders, he ranked third in rebounding, second in defensive rebounding (5.9 per game), seventh in offensive rebounding (2.2 per game) and 12th in field goal percentage…grabbed at least six rebounds during each of the final 17 games of the season, and at least five rebounds in each of the final 24 games…scored in double figures 17 times, and posted double digits in rebounds on seven occasions…had six double-doubles, tied for the most on the team…averaged 11.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 30.2 minutes per game in conference play while shooting .507 (72-142) from the field and .433 (13-30) from the 3-point line…named Big Sky Player of the Week and Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging 22.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in road wins at Southern Utah and Northern Arizona…had four games with at least 20 points, including a career-best 28 points at Southern Utah…drew a team-high 10 charges…ranks among the top 20 players in school history in 12 different statistical categories…that includes second in games (123), third in rebounds (723), fifth in both starts (89) and minutes played (2,997), and seventh in steals (133)…the rebounds are easily the most by any Hornet during the Div. I era (1991-pres.)…nine career double-doubles are tied for the third most in the team’s Div. I era…raised his scoring average all four years of his career, from 3.7 ppg as a freshman to 6.8 ppg as a sophomore, 7.8 ppg as a junior, and 11.3 ppg as a senior…drew 35 charges over the his final three years with the program.

2015-16 Season
Played in 30 of 31 games, starting 28 times…missed the road game at Portland State with injury…averaged 7.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocked shots per game while shooting .433 (90-for-208) from the field and .662 (51-of-77) from the free throw line…drew a team-high 15 charges…had a pair of double-doubles - 14 points and 10 rebounds vs. Idaho State, 11 points and 12 rebounds at UC Davis…scored in double figures eight times, and pulled down at least 10 rebounds on four occasions…that includes a season-high 13 rebounds against Eastern Washington…was the Hornets’ leading rebounder while finishing second in steals and third in blocks…among Big Sky leaders, he ranked fifth in offensive rebounds per game (2.2), seventh in rebounding, tied for 11th in steals and 13th in blocked shots…raised his scoring average to 8.5 points per game against Big Sky opposition.

2014-15 Season
Appeared in all 33 games, including 30 starts as a true sophomore…averaged 6.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 24.4 minutes per game…shot .470 (87-185) from the field, .400 (4-10) from the 3-point line and .639 (46-72) from the free throw line…in Big Sky Conference play, he bumped those numbers up to 7.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 26.7 minutes per game…over his final 13 games, Hornsby combined for 32 steals…in conference play, his 1.7 steals were the fourth best mark in the league and the 6.2 rebounds ranked 10th in the conference…led the Hornets in rebounds per game in both league, and non-league play…scored in double figures seven times, including a season-high 20 points on 8-of-8 shooting from the field vs. Utah Valley…had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Hornets’ home win against North Dakota…drew a team-high 10 charges during the season…four of his double figure efforts in points scored came during the final 10 games of the year…had five steals on the road at both Eastern Washington and Portland State.

2013-14 Season
Played in 29 of 30 games as a true freshman…averaged 3.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 14.9 minutes per game…shot .362 (34-94) from the field and .717 (33-46) from the free throw line…averaged 5.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 18.3 minutes over the final eight games of the season…scored in double figures four times, including a season-high 15 points in a home win vs. North Dakota…had 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals in 22 minutes in the Hornets’ regular-season finale victory over Montana State…that win clinched the Hornets’ first berth to the Big Sky Tournament in eight years…had 11 points and five rebounds in a home win vs. Weber State, and eight points and nine rebounds vs. UC Riverside.

High School

A 2013 graduate of Tustin High School in Tustin, Calif…played four years of basketball and three seasons of volleyball for the Tillers…was a member of the varsity basketball squad his final three years…named by ESPN as the 20th best high school recruit in the state of California, and Scout.com ranked Hornsby the sixth best small forward on the West Coast…as a senior, he was named team captain, first team all-state, co-3AAA Division Player of the Year, co-MVP of the Empire League, and first team all-county for a Tustin squad that reached the second round of the CIF Div. III State Championship, won the CIF Southern Section 3AAA title, and won the Empire League crown…in the Southern Section tournament, he had a double-double in the championship game victory over Royal High School, 26 points in the semifinal win over Compton High School, and 21 points in the second round against San Bernardino High School…Tustin posted a 31-3 overall record and 12-0 mark in the Empire League…the 31 wins were the most in school history, and the section crown was the school’s first since 1991…averaged 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game…scored a game-high 18 points in the Orange County North vs. South All-Star Game…as a junior, he was named the Empire League’s co-MVP after helping lead Tustin to a 23-7 overall record, a 12-0 league mark, an Empire League championship and a quarterfinal appearance in the section playoffs…that season, he averaged 12.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 42.0 percent from the field, 44.2 percent from the three-point line and 80.0 percent from the free throw line.

Graduated in May of 2017 with a sociology degree…parents are Kenneth and Elizabeth Hornsby…played AAU basketball for Mercadel Basketball of Santa Margarita.
