2012-13 Season
Appeared in 24 games, and averaged 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 10.8 minutes per game…shot .330 (32-97) from the field and .706 (12-17) from the free throw line…of his 46 rebounds, 22 came on the offensive glass…scored 11 points vs. UC Merced and 10 vs. CSU Bakersfield during the first two games of the season, respectively, but did not score in double figures again the remainder of the year…had nine points, three rebounds and a steal in 10 minutes to help the Hornets to a home win over Northern Colorado.
2011-12 Season
Appeared in 18 games, starting the final 12 games of the season…averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 21.4 minutes per game while shooting .475 (77-162) from the field and .358 (24-67) from the three-point line…scoring average was tied for the second best on the team…played two minutes of the season opener before injuring his knee, and missed the next 10 games…played in the team’s final 17 games of the season after returning from the injury…scored in double figures in each of the team’s final six, and nine of the last 10 games of the season…over the final six games of the season, Carbajal averaged a team-high 16.5 points per game on .549 (39-71) shooting from the field and .417 (10-24) from the three-point line…that included a career-high 24 points against San Jose State in an ESPN BracketBusters game…overall, he scored in double figures 12 times in 18 games after doing so seven times in 28 games his freshman season…against Big Sky competition, he averaged 11.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game…after averaging 6.6 points through his first eight games, Carbajal averaged 15.0 points over his final 10 games…switched jersey number to #1 after wearing #11 his freshman season.
2010-11 Season
Appeared in all 28 games, including 16 starts as a true freshman…averaged 6.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 40.9 percent (63-154) from the field and 30.9 percent (29-94) from the three-point line…scored in double figures in seven games, including a season-high tying 17 points in the season finale at Northern Colorado…also had 17 points at McNeese State…buried at least two three-pointers in nine games…started 13 of the first 15 games of his collegiate career…played 40 minutes in overtime games at McNeese State and Eastern Washington…in the Northern Colorado game, he had 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-7 from the three-point line...wore jersey #11 his freshman year.
High School
A 2010 graduate of Buchanan High School…played all four years for the varsity squad…set the Buchanan High School record with 1,535 career points…was key in upgrading a program that went from being winless in the Tri-River Athletic Conference his freshman season to sharing the league title and making the Central Section Division I final as a senior…a two-time first team all-conference selection, including the Tri-River Athletic Conference MVP and first team all-Metro (by the Fresno Bee) as a senior…during the 2009-10 season, he helped Buchanan to a 23-8 overall record while leading the team in scoring (17.7), rebounding (7.8) and steals (1.9)…as a junior, he was first team all-conference and second team all-Valley after posting team highs in points (16.6 per game), rebounds (6.2 per game) and steals (2.0 per game)…two-time team captain…a second team all-conference choice as a sophomore.
Personal
Parents are DeRon and Lisa Carbajal…a sociology major…has basketball in his bloodlines, as his grandfather, Frank, was a longtime head coach and a member of both the California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and the Northern Colorado Athletics Hall of Fame, where he played from 1958-61…Carbajal’s father, DeRon, also has high school head coaching experience.
