Biography

2020-21 Season
One of two Hornets to start all 20 games…named second team all-District 6, and second team all-Big Sky Conference…became just the third player in Sacramento State’s Div. I era (1991-pres.) to be named all-district…averaged 18.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 33.5 minutes per game…shot 48% (128-266) from the field and 74% (101-136) from the free throw line…in conference games, he upped his averages to 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field and 73% from the free throw line…one of two players in the Big Sky to rank among the top four players in both points and rebounds…the other was Big Sky MVP Tanner Groves of Eastern Washington…finished second in the league in scoring and fourth in rebounding…also ranked sixth in field goal percentage…the 18.3 points per game rank as the second best single-season mark in Sacramento State’s Div. I era, and his free throws made (101) rank as the 10th best mark…after scoring nine points in the season opener, Esposito scored in double figures the final 19 games of the season…that included eight games with 20-plus points…scored 32 points on 9-of-10 shooting in the regular season finale win at Montana State, tied for the ninth best single-game mark in the Div. I era…had 27 points on 9-for-9 shooting in the second half of that game…the 27 points are the most by a Hornet in a half during the Div. I era…posted five double-doubles (points and rebounds), and five games with double figures in rebounds…led the Hornets in scoring on 10 occasions, and rebounding 14 times…played in 81 straight games dating back to his sophomore season, and never missed a game as a Hornet…despite playing just three seasons in a Hornet uniform, he finished with 906 career points…scored in double figures 47 times during his career, and posted eight double-doubles.

2019-20 Season
One of five Hornets to play in all 30 games, either as a starter or the team’s sixth man…started the first 21 games of the season before coming off the bench the final nine games…finished with averages of 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 21.7 minutes per game…was the team’s fourth leading scorer and second leading rebounder…scored in double figures 14 times (second most on the team) and now has 28 career games in double-figure scoring…season-high 22 points in a home win against Portland State…had 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting in a road victory at Idaho State…finished a +56 in plus/minus ratio…of his 139 rebounds, 44 came on the offensive glass…posted third career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a win over rival UC Davis at the Golden 1 Center.

2018-19 Season
Served as the team’s sixth man the majority of the season…one of six Hornets to play in all 31 games…that included three starts…averaged 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 16.5 minutes per game…shot 48% (94-195) from the field and 76% (77-102) from the free throw line…scored in double figures on 14 occasions…also had two double-doubles, including 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Cal State Fullerton, and 16 points and 12 rebounds in a win at Cal State Northridge…his statistics pro-rated over a 40-minute game were averages of 20.9 points and 10.1 rebounds…led the Hornets in scoring three times…of his 129 rebounds, 53 came on the offensive glass…average of 1.7 offensive rebounds per game ranked 14th in the Big Sky…scored in double figures the first five games of the year, including a season-best 20 points in the season opener against Simpson…Hornets were 8-6 in games he scored in double digits…started both games of the Hornets’ run at the Big Sky Tournament.

Prior to Sacramento State

Played one season (2017-18) for San Diego City College…started all but one game for a team that went 33-3 overall, 10-0 in league, and lost in the state championship game…averaged 10.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocked shots while shooting 52% (135-260) from the field and 76% (91-120) from the free throw line…a first team all-conference selection, Esposito was the team’s third leading scorer and averaged 19.4 minutes per game for a team where no one played more than 25 minutes per contest…during the team’s five-game run at the state tournament, Esposito averaged 16.2 points and 24.6 minutes, including a season-best 28 points in a second round win over Long Beach City College…named all-tournament at the state tourney.

High School
A 2017 graduate of Torrey Pines High School in San Diego…played four years (two seasons of varsity) for the Falcons…as a senior, he was named the Avocado West League Player of the Year and first team all-section after averaging 14.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game for a Torrey Pines squad that went 28-5 overall and 10-0 in league…that season, he shot 55% (191-349) from the field and was the team’s second leading scorer and rebounder.

A business administration major…a native of Naples, Italy, Esposito moved from Italy to the United States prior to his freshman year of high school…son of Gennaro and Eva Esposito.
