Biography

2018-19 Season
Played in 25 games, including 21 starts…missed five games because of injury…finished the season with averages of 2.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 12.3 minutes per game…drew 18 charges, tied for the team lead…of his 46 rebounds, 19 came on the offensive glass…shot 51% (20-39) from the field…had a season-high six points at Montana State…had four points and career-high eight rebounds (four on the offensive glass) in the Hornets’ road win at Idaho State…had two points, two blocked shots and seven rebounds (five on the offensive glass) in a 58-55 win over rival UC Davis at the Golden 1 Center…for the second straight year, Martin was an NABC Honors Court selection for academic excellence…also a Big Sky all-academic choice.

2017-18 Season
Played in 28 games, including four starts, during his first season with the Hornets…averaged 2.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 11.8 minutes per game…shot 48% (27-56) from the field…of his 81 rebounds, 35 came on the offensive glass…scored in double figures twice, and the Hornets won both of those games…had a season-high 13 points and seven rebounds in a home win over Montana State…had 11 points and five rebounds in a win over Northern Colorado in the regular season finale…had six offensive rebounds (seven boards total) at home vs. Idaho State…had five points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes in the Hornets’ Big Sky Tournament game vs. Portland State…played at least 20 minutes in four of the final eight games of the season after not playing more than 17 minutes the first 24 games…an NABC Honors Court selection for academic excellence.

Prior to Sacramento State

Played two years (2015-17) of basketball for Citrus College of Glendora, Calif…did not miss a game during his two-year career, appearing in all 61 contests…as a sophomore, he was the only member of the team to start all 31 games and was named honorable mention all-league after helping the Owls to a 24-7 overall record and an 8-2 mark in league…the team qualified for the Sweet 16 of the CCCAA Regional Playoffs where it lost to Antelope Valley, 74-71, on a last second 3-pointer…during that sophomore season, he averaged 7.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 0.5 blocked shots, 1.1 steals and 19.9 minutes per game…played in a system where every player on the roster averaged less than 25 minutes per game…of his 261 rebounds, a massive 122 came on the offensive glass…that breaks down to 3.9 offensive rebounds per game, a figure that led the Western State Conference’s East Division…shot .472 (91-of-193) from the field, scored in double figures on nine occasions, posted double-figure rebounds 13 times, and had five double-doubles…that included a run of four straight double-doubles from Dec. 3-15…as a freshman, Martin played in 30 games (two starts), averaging 5.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.4 blocked shots, 0.6 steals and 16.8 minutes per game while shooting .512 (63-for-123) from the field…during the 2014-15 season, Martin played at The Hill School, a college preparatory institution located in Pottstown, Penn…that season, he helped the team to a 21-7 record.

High School
A 2014 graduate of Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, Calif…played four seasons of varsity basketball at the forward spot…as a senior (2013-14 season), he was named the Desert Sky League MVP after averaging 11.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.0 offensive boards per game.

Parents are Calvin and Cecilia Martin…a kinesiology major who is on pace to graduate in the spring of 2020.
