Biography
2023-24 Season
• One of five Hornets to play in all 34 games, including 25 starts
• Averaged 6.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 18.6 minutes on 50% (74-147) from the field and 77% (58-75) from the free throw line
• Saved his best games for the postseason where he was named to the Big Sky all-tournament team
• In three tourney games, he was the Hornets’ leading scorer at 16.3 ppg. Also averaged 3.3 rebounds while shooting 57% (16-28) from the field, 75% (3-4) from 3-point range, and 82% (14-17) from the free throw line
• Had a career-high 25 points in the Hornets’ first round win over Idaho, and followed that with 17 points in the win over top seed Eastern Washington in the quarterfinals
• Scored in double figures seven times during the season
• Had 12 points and six rebounds in the Hornets’ rivalry win at UC Davis
• The lone senior on this year’s team, Mawein finished his two-year Sacramento State career with averages of 7.9 points and 4.6 rebounds on 51% (197-387) shooting from the field
2022-23 Season
• Played all 32 games in his first season with the Hornets, including 16 starts
• Averaged 9.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.0 block and 24.9 minutes per game. Also shot 51% (123-40) from the field
• Hornets’ second leading rebounder, and third leading scorer
• Scored in double figures 18 times, and had four games with 10+ rebounds
• Posted a pair of double-doubles, including 13 points and 11 rebounds vs. Northern Colorado
• Shot 50% or better from the field in each of the last six games, and in 20 of 32 games overall
• Among Big Sky leaders, he ranked third in blocks, sixth in offensive rebounds (1.8 per game), and eighth in rebounding
• Shot 61% from the field (28-46) over the final six games of the season
• Season-high 17 points vs. Southern Utah
• Had 10+ rebounds three times over a four-game stretch from Dec. 31-Jan. 12
Prior to Sacramento State
• Played in 18 games in his lone season (2021-22) at Oklahoma
• As a reserve, Mawein averaged 1.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 3.9 minutes per game while shooting 56% from the field
• Shot 9-for-16 from the field, and seven of his 20 rebounds came on the offensive glass
• When Mawein received minutes, he produced. That included six points (3-3 FG), four rebounds and two steals in 13 minutes vs. 5th-ranked Baylor. Also had five points (2-4 FG) and four rebounds (all on the offensive glass) in 14 minutes vs. 7th-ranked Kansas
• Played two seasons at Navarro JC (2019-21) in Corsicana, Texas
• During his 51-game career with the Bulldogs, Mawein totaled 660 points with 33 double-figure scoring contests
• In 22 games during the 2020-21 season, he averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 48% from the field
• Over his final 15 games during his sophomore season, he scored at least 17 points on six occasions
• As a freshman in 2019-20, Mawein averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 48% from the field
• Had a four-game stretch in which he scored 28, 22, 31 and 25 points, respectively
• Scored in double figures in 13 of the final 15 games of the season
High School
• Played his final two years of high school basketball (2017-19) at Southwest Christian Academy in Little Rock, Ark.
• Helped the Lions to the National Association of Christian Athletes championship game both seasons

• An ethnic studies major who is on pace to graduate in the spring of 2024
• Rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 overall junior college recruit from the 2021 class and No. 1 power forward
