Biography

2015 Season: Appeared in all 11 games as a running back and on special teams…finished the season with two rush attempts and also caught four passes for 35 yards and a touchdown…on special teams, he blocked a punt which let to a touchdown return against UC Davis…also had a tackle against Eastern Oregon…had two receptions, including a 2-yard touchdown against Idaho State.

2014 Season:
Played in 11 of the 12 games on special teams and as a reserve running back…blocked a punt and recovered a short kickoff at Incarnate Word in his first game with the Hornets…both of those plays led to Hornet touchdowns…was credited with four tackles during the season…had one tackle against Menlo, Montana State, Southern Utah and Portland State…caught one pass at Idaho State.

Prior to Sacramento State:
Played the 2013 season at Fresno City College as a defensive back…finished the year with 12 tackles in seven games…also had an interception and 23-yard return in that game…had five stops against Delta JC for his season high…was credited with two tackles at Butte JC…began his collegiate career at Cal Poly where he redshirted in 2011 and played in 2012…as a redshirt freshman he had two carries for 16 yards against Idaho State.

High School:
Graduated from Kingsburg HS in 2011…was the California Medium Schools State Player of the Year…led Kingsburg to the Central Section Div. III championships and a 12-1 overall record as a senior…is believed to be the first player in California prep football history to both pass and rush for more than 2,000 yards in one season…after starting the season at running back, he moved to QB in the second game…rushed for 2,008 yards on 249 carries (8.1 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns and completed 121 of 261 passes for 2,177 yards and 26 TDs…notched 11 100-yard games rushing, including 269 yards on just 21 carries and three touchdowns against Immanuel, and four 200-yard games passing…as a safety on defense, he was credited with 54 tackles and two interceptions…also served as the team's punter…named most valuable player of the Central Sequoia League and was runner-up for Fresno Bee Player of the Year honors…also earned first-team all-Fresno Bee, Cal-Hi Sports medium schools player of the year and first-team all-state honors…as a junior running back, he rushed for 1,006 yards and 19 touchdowns with five 100-yard games and caught 28 passes for 429 yards and eight more score…tallied 42 tackles on defense, intercepted two passes and was named to the all-Central Sequoia League first team as both a running back and defensive back… also was named co-offensive player of the year in the Central Sequoia League, first-team all-Fresno Bee and second-team all-state, helping the Vikings to the first of their back-to-back CIF-Central Section championships…was a four-time Central Sequoia League all-academic team member

Personal: Majoring in communication studies…son of Todd and Sheri Steele…father played for the New Orleans Saints from 1987-88.
