Olanda James joined the Sacramento State as a recruiting intern in August of 2021.
James came to the Hornets after serving as the nickels coach and recruiting liaison for Pebblebrook High School (GA). Prior to that he served as the recruiting coordinator and operations assistant (2018-19) as well as an on-field assistant at Mary-Hardin Baylor (2016), winning the DIII National Championship in 2018. In 2017, James was an operations and recruiting intern at South Dakota State. That season, the Jackrabbits advanced to the FCS semifinals.
James is a 2014 graduate of Trident University International and graduated in 2017 with his Master’s in Sport Management at the University of Tennessee. He served 25 years in the U.S. Army as a Medic and Health Care Supervisor and served on humanitarian and wartime deployments. James played Semi-Pro football for the San Antonio Chargers and coached for the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League, Bearden High School (TN), two Semi-Pro teams and with six different youth football programs. James is a native of Knoxville, Tenn., and has three children and 11 grandchildren.
