Sacramento State

Kason McCullough-Cooper was added to the staff as the assistant defensive backs coach prior to the 2026 season. McCullough-Cooper came to the Hornets from Northern Arizona where he worked under current Sacramento State defensive coordinator Adam Clark during the 2025 season.

In 2024, McCullough-Cooper taught and coached at Mansfield HS in Texas.

He played six seasons at Angelo State where he recorded 65 career tackles and five interceptions in 48 career games. He was named second team all-Lone  Star Conference in 2023 and was invited to the New England Patriots minicamp following his senior year. 

McCullough-Cooper graduated from Angelo State with a bachelor’s in business administration in 2022 and added his MBA in 2024.
