Garrett Wolfe joined the Sacramento State football staff in April of 2019 as the Director of Football Operations and was promoted to the Assistant A.D./Football Administration in the spring of 2022.
Wolfe plays a pivotal off-the-field role with the team where his numerous tasks include, budgeting, travel planning, alumni relations, fundraising, and managing football’s support stuff. One of his initial projects with the team was to reconnect the alumni to the new staff and players. Wolfe, with the help of some key alumni, helped reestablish The Huddle to centralize alumni outreach and fundraising support and also created an honorary captain program which allows an alum to speak to the team the night before each game and take part in all gameday activities. This past season, Wolfe spearheaded the Greg Knapp Memorial Game and also continued the Football Alumni Day.
His efforts have led to 157% percent increase in fundraising which has allowed Sacramento State players to have increased team meals and nutrition. One of the primary fundraisers has been the Kickoff Golf Classic which has grown by over 50% year-to-year.
Wolfe has also helped advance the technology used by the staff and players. He implemented the use of Teamworks for scheduling and communication, helped onboard players with INFLCR for social media outreach, made the team the first FCS program to sign with Pro Football Focus and worked closely with Assistant A.D./Sports Performance Ryan Deatrick to sign a deal with Catapult to help track on field performance metrics.
Behind the scenes, Wolfe helped increase revenue through the team’s Rising Stars Mega Camp which brings thousands of high school players to campus during the summer. He also worked closely with the Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration department to create two graduate assistant football coach positions.
Wolfe returned to Sacramento State after spending four seasons at Stanford in different positions, finishing as the Cardinal’s Assistant Director of Recruiting Operations. Wolfe began his tenure on The Farm in 2015, a season in which Stanford captured the Pac-12 title as well as a Rose Bowl Victory. During the remainder of his time, Stanford would claim another Pac-12 North Championship (2017), two Sun Bowl Championships (2016 & 2018) and a trip to the Alamo Bowl (2017).Â
Prior to working at Stanford, Wolfe served as the Director of Football Operations at Portland State in 2014. While with the Vikings, Wolfe was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, including team travel, NFL liaison, football camps and clinics management, recruiting, and assisting the coaches with administration of the program.
Wolfe began his career in football with a pair of jobs in Sacramento. He worked as the Video Coordinator for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League and was also the Assistant Director of Football Operations at Sacramento State from 2011-13.
He left Sacramento to work for ACS Athletics as a football liaison. ACS provides database support for athletics programs in compliance, recruiting, and team management.
A native of Folsom, California, Wolfe earned a degree in Sports Management from The University of Texas in 2010. He followed that with an internship with Octagon Football, a full-service NFL Agency. The Folsom High School graduate played for Hornet coaches Troy Taylor and Kris Richardson and was a teammate of current assistant coach Sam Cole.
