Biography

2017 Season: Named third team FCS All-America by the Associated Press and was a first team all-Big Sky selection at defensive end…led the Big Sky and tied for fifth in the FCS with 10.0 sacks (1.00 per game)…spearheaded a Hornet defense which set the school Div. I-era record with 43 sacks and led the FCS in sacks per game…moved into 10th place in school single-season history with 10.0 sacks and moved into eighth place with 17.5 career sacks…finished the year with 38 total tackles, including  12.5 for loss, seven QB hurries, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery…was credited with at least two tackles in all 10 games in which he played…had a season-high seven stops against Weber State and added six at North Dakota…had three TFLs against UND and Northern Colorado…had a sack in eight games, including two at UND.

2016 Season:
Named honorable mention all-Big Sky honors at defensive end…played in all 11 games, starting 10…led the team with 11.0 tackles-for-loss and 5.5 sacks…finished the year with 42 total tackles…also had five quarterback hurries, forced a team-high three fumbles and recovered two…had at least one tackle in all 11 games and had four or more in eight contests…biggest output came against Montana State where he had six…recorded a share of a sack in six games…recorded 2.5 tackles-for-loss at Idaho State and had 1.5 against Cal Poly.

2015 Season:
Played and started the final 10 games of the year at defensive end…led all defensive linemen on the team with 34 tackles…ranked second among the Hornets with 8.5 tackles-for-loss and tied for third with 3.0 sacks…recorded six tackles at Southern Utah for his season high…had five stops against Weber State, Eastern Washington and Cal Poly…was credited with 1.5 sacks at Southern Utah and had an unassisted sack at SUU.

2014 Season:
Appeared in all 12 games on the defensive line, starting one…was credited with 14 tackles, including 1.5 for loss during the season…had three tackles in the wins over Weber State and Northern Colorado for his season highs…had two solo tackles at Montana…also had two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup during the season.

2013 Season:
Redshirted during the season…named the team's Defensive Scout Team MVP.

High School:
A 2013 graduate of Buchanan HS in Clovis, Calif…was named to the Fresno Bee’s all-metro team and was a first team Tri-River League selection on the defensive line…recorded 75 tackles, including seven sacks, as a senior…had at least five tackles in 10 of his team’s 11 games in 2012…biggest output came against Clovis West HS where he had 11 stops…also competed in the shot put and discus for the track and field team…was a high school teammate with fellow freshman Rajaee Jordan.

Personal: Majoring in kinesiology…parents are Steve and Cindy Sorensen…brother, Nolan, is a quarterback at Fresno City College.
