Biography

JUNIOR (2021): Appeared in 10 games, all in relief in his fourth and final season with Sacramento State...Was off to a brilliant start, recording four saves a 3.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts and three walks in 12.0 innings of work...Season was ended prematurely due to Tommy John surgery...Owned a 13.5 K/9 through his first 10 appearances...Threw a season-high 2.0 innings on two occassions (3/21 at Utah Valley, 3/28 vs. Dixie State)...threw a season-high 43 pitches in that March 21 game at Utah Valley...Struck out a season-high three in a scoreless inning against Pacific on March 1 to earn his second save...Did not commit an error in two chances in the field. 

JUNIOR (2020): Appeared in five games for the Hornets, all in relief...Was dominant out of the 'pen, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five games...Threw 9.0 innings, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out 12...Had assumed the role of closer entering the 2020 season, closing out a team-leading four games while collecting one save...Opponents hit just .100 against Churby...Did not allow an extra base hit...Was one of four Hornets to not allow a walk and one of two to not allow a walk while throwing at least nine innings...Was part of one of Sacramento State's two combined shutouts, throwing a scoreless frame in the Hornets' 8-0 win at UC Irvine on March 8.

SOPHOMORE (2019): Appeared in 32 games for the Hornets, tied for sixth most in a single season in program history...Was 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA...Threw 46.0 innings out of the bullpen for the Hornets...Churby's 32 relief appearances led the Hornets and the WAC...His 32 total appearances appearances were second most on the Hornets and in the WAC, behind only teammate Brady Rodriguez...Struck out 57 batters in his 46 innings of work, good for a 11.15 K/9, which would have led the Hornets and been third in the WAC if he had enough innings to qualify...Struck out a season-high five in three separate games, including five in two innings twice...Threw an immaculate inning against Nevada at home, striking out the side on nine pitches...After throwing just 13.1 innings in his freshman campaign, Churby became one of the go-to options out of the Sacramento State bullpen...Churby threw multiple innings in 15 of his 32 games, including a career-high four innings against Utah Valley in the WAC Tournament...Allowed just two hits in four innings of relief against the Wolverines...Defensively, was perfect in six chances (four putouts, two assists).

FRESHMAN (2018): Appeared in 11 games, all in relief...Was 0-0 with a 10.12 ERA...Struck out 11 in 13.1 innings of work...Struck out four over three innings in his Hornet debut against Washington...Threw a perfect inning with one strikeout in Sacramento State's 4-1 win over California...Threw a season-high 3.2 innings at Santa Clara, throwing 52 pitches.
