SENIOR (2020): Academic All-WAC...Was off to a blistering start to 2020 before the season ended prematurely...Had started all 16 of Sacramento State's 2020 games, playing primarily first base while also seeing time at second...In 16 games, was hitting .321 with two home runs and nine RBIs...In addition to his .321 average, posted a .463 OBP and a .509 SLG%...His .321 average and .463 OBP were both best on the team...Was 17-for-53...His 17 hits were tied for second most on the club, as were his nine RBIs and his two home runs...Tied for second with five multi-hit games...Had four doubles, tied for the team lead, and drew 11 walks, again tied for most on the club...Opened the season with a nine-game reached-base streak, second longest by a Hornet in 2020...Was 4-for-5 in stolen base attempts, leading the team in both steals and attempts...Walstad homered in back-to-back games against Santa Clara at John Smith Field on Feb. 27 and 28...Had 75 putouts, second most on the team, and 18 assists...Posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 93 chances.
JUNIOR (2019): WAC All-Tournament...Played in 55 games with 45 starts and saw time at first base, second base, and in the outfield...Also batted in each of the top eight spots in the batting order...Hit .247 with two home runs, five doubles, 16 RBIs, and 29 runs scored...Drew 33 walks, was hit by a pitch seven times, and posted a team-leading .400 on-base percentage...Tied for the team lead with eight stolen bases, going 8-for-12...Had eight multi-hit games and was one of three Hornets to tally a four-hit game in 2019...Went 4-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the team's 6-0 shutout win over Cal at home on March 26...Also had four multi-RBI games, including a season-best three RBIs in the Hornets' 7-5 win at Chicago State (April 19)...Hit his first Sacramento State home run on March 29 on the road a Cal Baptist in a game the Hornets won, 21-10...Was 2-for-3 against UCLA's Jack Ralston, an eventual 7th-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft...Finished the season with an active 25-game reached base streak, the longest on the team all season, and reached base safely in each of his final 28 starts...Named to the WAC Tournament team after hitting .308 with a .419 on-base percentage in seven games...Had two game-winning hits (vs. UTRGV, vs. New Mexico State) and scored a game-winning run (vs. Grand Canyon)...Went 2-for-4 with a single, double, and run scored in the Hornets' 6-4 upset win over #19 UCSB in the NCAA Regional Tournament at Stanford University on June 1...Had 168 total putouts on the season, including 84 assists, third most on the team...Was involved in 26 total double plays, including a number of spectacular turns up the middle during the Hornets 2019 WAC Tournament championship run (10 in total)...Made six errors for a .977 fielding percentage.
