Sanchez has also advanced his knowledge in biomechanics, physiology, and skill development to help the DBU coaches produce one of the most effective pitching staffs in the nation. Sanchez spent three seasons with the Patriots, helping guide the team to the 2019 Lubbock Regional and 2021 Columbia Super Regional. Under his leadership, the DBU pitching staff led the Missouri Valley Conference in ERA in 2021 while ranking among the top four in each of his three seasons.

"Victor will be a great addition to the Sac State baseball program. He is very gifted in being able to use technology to help each pitcher identify and pitch to their strengths. Victor has a great grasp on the mental side of pitching, the delivery and the physical preparation needed to help a player reach his full potential but his personality is what really separates him. He is an energy giver who connects well with everyone he works with, the players and staff will love getting to work with Victor each day." 0 Dallas Baptist head baseball coach, Dan Heefner

During his time at DBU, Sanchez has saw seven pitchers chosen in the Major League Draft. Sanchez coached a trio of pitchers taken inn the 2021 draft, including third round pick Dominic Hamel. Hamel was also tabbed a third team all-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings.

Prior to his time with Dallas Baptist, Sanchez served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix from 2017-2019 and as the assistant coach for the Eau Claire Express, a Northwoods League team in Wisconsin, for two years.

Before beginning his coaching career, Sanchez was a standout pitcher at the University of New Mexico from 2012-16. He finished his career as the all-time saves leader for the Lobos. Considered to be one of the top closers in college baseball, Sanchez was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Watch List in both 2014 and 2015 and was also tabbed to the Gregg Olson Award Watch List in 2014, awarded to the nation’s Breakout Player of the Year.
