Tyler Wente joins the Hornets' staff for his first season as the Director of Baseball Operations in 2023, after serving in similar roles at both UT Arlington and Grand Canyon during his career.

Wente joins the program after spending the last two seasons as a student manager at his alma mater where he assisted in practice and game preparation, worked with the field crew at GCU Ballpark before and after games, assisted with team travel, and served as a liaison between the equipment room and the team.

Prior to his position with the ‘Lopes, Wente served in a similar capacity as an equipment and operations manager for the Mavericks in Arlington, Texas, for two years from 2018-20 as an undergraduate, while also assisting student-athletes as a tutor and study hall monitor. While with the UT Arlington program, he also created a presentation for coaches to use during recruiting trips to help highlight the program and university at large.

He was also in charge of organizing youth training camps during his two previous stops and worked extensively with visiting teams to make sure their needs were taken care during their trips.

Wente, the son of Sacramento State assistant baseball coach Jon Wente and Grand Canyon assistant softball coach Sandra Wente, is a 2021 graduate of Grand Canyon with a degree in business management. He is currently wrapping up his MBA at the university and is expected to graduate in June of 2023.
