Kasen Rainey joined the Sacramento State baseball staff in August of 2021, prior to the start of the 2022 season.
The Hornets' net Director of Player Development, Rainey came to Sacramento State after a successful run as the Trackman Operator for the Gwinnett Stripers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Rainey has spent the last half decade working hands-on with new and emerging baseball technology, analyzing data, and applying it to help players and scouts across the country.
Prior to joining the Atlanta Braves organization, Kasen worked with Full Count Baseball in player development as a data analyst. Using technology such as Trackman, Rapsodo, and Edgertronic cameras, Rainey assisted in developing personalized pitch modeling and personalized swing mechanics for individual players across the country.Â
Rainey also spent time as an assistant scout and a regional manager for Evolution Metrix, managing more than three dozen scouts in the southwest while also scouting players across the county, including more than 25 players taken in the 2018 and 2019 MLB drafts.Â
He brings extensive experience with and a deep knowledge of Trackman, technology that was installed at John Smith Field in 2020.
