This program is designed to develop the student-athlete holistically during their time a part of Sacramento State Athletics --- so that after the collegiate athletics experience they have a strong foundation to start their next chapters.Â

The SARC and Hornet Club will host events throughout the year that pertain to developing student-athletes professionally. From Etiquette Dinners, Networking Nights, Former Student-Athlete Panels, and Athlete Career Fairs.Â

The Hornet Network serves as a platform where current and former student-athletes can gain access to resources and job opportunities. Block S Letterwinners Club
The Block S Letterwinners Club aims at unifying all former Sacramento State student-athletes, athletic trainers, team managers, coaches, band members, dancers and cheerleaders. Block S is committed to sustaining the green and gold spirit and Hornet pride by reconnecting all generations of former student-athletes who competed for Sacramento State. As a Block S member, you will enhance the overall experience of our current student-athletes and lay the foundation for their future support of our program. SARC MentoringÂ
The Student-Athlete Resource Center provides Academic Coaching and Mentoring Opportunities for student-athletes transitioning into Sacramento State as well as designed for the student-athlete that needs academic support throughout their years here. Student-athletes in the mentoring program have a mentor that they work with for the entire semester, meeting with them once per week for an hour to review assignments, study, and strategize for upcoming classwork. The SARC Mentor team is comprised of former student-athletes, graduate students with a focus in higher education and counseling, and higher education professionals from the sports and academic realms.Â

Community Service & Optimist Committee
Sacramento State Athletics strives to support and engage with the Greater Sacramento Community - connecting with organizations and elementary schools to inspire the next generation that college is possible. Types of organizations that student-athletes and teams have worked with include: Shriner's Children's Hospital, St. John's Program for Real Change, Autism Speaks, and Linus Blanket Project.Â

Athlete Wellness
Sport Psychologist, Dr. Gloria Petruzzelli
Dr. Gloria Petruzzelli is the first licensed clinical psychologist and sport psychologist to be housed in an athletics department in the California State University system. Petruzzelli spent five years working in the department of Student Health and Counseling Services and specializes in providing sport psychology services as well as treatment of student-athlete mental health issues. She has extensive experience working with NCAA Div. I student-athletes, elite athletes, and competitive age-group athletes and serves as a resource for our student-athletes on-campus. Hornets ConnectÂ
Starting in the Spring of 2020, Dr. Gloria Petruzzelli and Bethany Crouch will be holding an "After Athletics" group focused on support around transitioning out of sport and into the "adulting" world.Â
