2016 Season: Appeared in eight games and started the final two at cornerback…recorded 10 total tackles and four pass breakups during the season…had four stops and a PBU against Portland State for his season best…had two tackles against North Dakota and UC Davis.

2015 Season: Started all 11 games of the year at cornerback…made 31 tackles, including 23 solos…led the team with three interceptions and six pass breakups…picked off passes against Weber State, Southern Utah and Idaho State…biggest tackle output was six at Weber State…also had five against UC Davis…had at least one tackle in 10 games and had three or more in eight contests.

2014 Season: Played in all 12 games, starting the final nine at cornerback…finished the season with 43 total tackles and led the team with six pass breakups…recorded his first career interception in the Causeway Classic victory over UC Davis…also had four tackles and a PBU in that game…had nine tackles, including six solos, at Idaho State…made at least three stops in nine games.

2013 Season: Appeared in 11 games and started the final nine at cornerback…recorded 35 total tackles, including 26 solos during his first active season with the team…also added eight pass breakups and recovered a fumble…highest tackle output came against Southern Utah where he had six…made five stops against Weber State and Northern Arizona…had three PBUs against Montana and two at Portland State.

2012 Season: Redshirted during the season…originally committed to Sacramento State in the spring of 2011…did not enroll at the University until the spring semester of 2012.

High School: A 2011 graduate of Mira Mesa HS in San Diego…earned first team all-Eastern League honors in 2010 as a receiver and was a second team selection at cornerback…helped lead the team to a pair of league titles during his career…tallied 84 tackles during his senior season, including 63 solos…had at least five tackles in 11 of the team’s 12 games, including a season high 11 against Grossmont in the section playoffs…also had seven interceptions and 13 pass breakups…was a member of the track team which won the league title in the 4x400 relay.

Personal: Majoring in sociology…twin brother, Nicholas, is also a member of the Hornet team…parents are Caesar and LaDon Payne.
