2018 Season
One of just two Hornets to start all 32 matches…all of those starts came at middle blocker, and she played in 118 of a possible 120 sets…averaged 1.24 kills, 0.76 digs and 0.97 blocks per set to go along with a .271 hitting percentage…posted double figures in kills on three occasions…hit at least .300 on 17 occasions…had at least three blocks 23 times…averaged 1.54 kills and 0.89 blocks per set to go with a .365 hitting percentage in league play…that hitting percentage was the fifth best mark in the Big Sky…hit a career-best .727 (9-1-11) in a home win over Montana State…finished her four-year career with 554 kills, 400 blocks and a .276 hitting percentage…career averages of 1.30 kills and 0.94 blocks per set…among Sacramento State career leaders, she finished 12th in blocks and solo blocks (63), 14th in block assists (337), 16th in blocks per set, and 18th in hitting percentage…started 95 consecutive matches to finish her career.
2017 Season
Started all 36 matches at middle blocker, and played in 141 of a possible 146 sets…averaged 1.58 kills, 0.84 blocks and 2.15 points per set while hitting .312…bumped those numbers to 1.92 kills and 0.92 blocks per set against conference opposition to go with a .375 hitting percentage…that .375 hit% was the sixth best mark in the Big Sky…hit at least .300 in 13 of the Hornets’ 16 matches in Big Sky play…that included hitting at least .400 in 10 matches…posted double figures in kills on five occasions, including a career-best 14 in a road win at Eastern Washington…named the Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week on Oct. 9…had nine kills, four blocks and a .429 hitting percentage in the Big Sky Tournament quarterfinal victory over Portland State…had a career-best four aces in the regular season finale vs. Northern Colorado…posted season totals of 223 kills and 118 blocks.
2016 Season
Played in 31 matches, including 29 starts and 112 sets at middle blocker…finished with averages of 1.36 kills, 1.02 blocks and 1.93 points per set to go along with a .260 hitting percentage…that included 114 total blocks…the 1.02 blocks per set was a team high and the ninth best mark in the Big Sky Conference…had a season-high 10 kills at Southern Utah…in that match, she also had six blocks and 13.5 points…posted nine kills and a season-best .643 hitting percentage at Montana State…had a career-high 10 blocks at New Mexico State…posted at least four blocks in 15 matches…hit better than .300 on 11 occasions, including eight kills and a .353 hitting percentage in the Big Sky Tournament semifinals against Northern Arizona…finished the season with 152 kills and 114 blocks.
2015 Season
Appeared in 22 matches, including seven starts and 55 sets played…started each of the final seven matches at middle blocker as a true freshman after starter Courtney Dietrich went down with a knee injury…during those seven starts, Gathright hit .300 with averages of 0.71 kills and 1.17 blocks per set…that average of 1.17 blocks was easily a team high during that seven-match stretch…that included a season-high eight blocks at Southern Utah…overall, in 22 matches, she averaged 0.60 kills and 0.96 blocks per set…recorded at least four blocks in seven different matches…had four kills, a .333 hitting percentage, three digs and three blocks in home win against Idaho State…had three kills, a .500 hitting percentage and five blocks in first career start at Portland State.
High School
A 2015 graduate of Vacaville High School…competed in three sports for the Bulldogs, including four years of volleyball, three years of track & field, and two seasons of basketball…spent her freshman season with the volleyball team on the JV squad before competing varsity the final three years…in volleyball, she was a two-time first team all-Monticello Empire League selection during both her junior and senior years…as a three-year varsity player, she combined for 545 kills and 148 blocks in 226 sets, which breaks down to 2.41 kills and 0.65 blocks per set…as a senior, she averaged 2.49 kills and 0.93 blocks per set while hitting .320…averaged a career-best 3.35 kills per set during her junior year…raised her hitting percentage all three years of her career…during her three varsity years, the Bulldogs combined for a 64-38 overall record, a 30-15 conference mark, and never finished worse than third in the league standings.
Personal
Parents are Glenn and Cassandra Gathright…a psychology major who is on pace to graduate in the spring of 2019…played three years of club volleyball for Five Starz in Davis for former Sacramento State head coach and AVCA Hall of Famer Debby Colberg…played on the 2014 Five Starz team with Hornet teammate Skyler Takeda.
