2013 Season

The only Hornet to start all 31 matches and play in all 116 sets, Hettinga was the everyday starter at setter…served as team co-captain…raised her assists per set average every year of her career, culminating in 10.20 this season…became the first Hornet to average at least 10 assists per set in a single season since 2007 (Rose Burke)…also had averages of 0.53 kills, 2.14 digs and 0.33 blocks per set while hitting a team-high .367…hit at least .300 in three of her four active seasons with the Hornets…had at least 40 assists on 14 occasions, including a season-high 58 at Montana which was the final match of her career…also in that match, she had a career-high six kills and a 1.000 hitting percentage…had 10 matches with double figures in digs, and led the team with 10 double-doubles…season high of 14 digs came against both Bucknell and Eastern Washington…among Sacramento State’s Div. I career leaders, she ranks seventh in assists (2,754) and eighth in assists per set (7.23)…also finished with career totals of 99 kills, a .329 hitting percentage, 717 digs and 82 blocks.

2012 Season
Appeared in 29 matches, including 25 starts as the team’s setter…missed one match with a concussion…averaged 0.27 kills, 7.95 assists and 2.05 digs per set while hitting .263…posted double figures in assists in all but two matches, including at least 44 assists in five of the last seven matches of the season…that included a career-high 59 assists in a home win against Northern Arizona, and 55 more against Northern Colorado…had 914 assists, 323 of which came during the final seven matches…also posted double figures in digs on 11 occasions, including a career-best 21 against Portland State…had at least three blocks in six of the last seven matches of the year…had 11 double-doubles…had three kills, a .500 hitting percentage, 48 assists, an ace, 15 digs and three blocks in the regular season finale win over Montana.

2011 Season
One of six Hornets to appear in all 32 matches…started 21 matches and appeared in 106 sets as one of the team’s two primary setters…averaged 4.75 assists and 1.82 digs per set…upped those numbers to 4.95 assists and 1.92 digs pet set against conference competition…finished the season with four kills and one error in 10 attacks (.300 hitting percentage)…had 11 matches with at least 20 assists…posted double figures in digs on six occasions, including a season-high 14 at Saint Mary’s.

2010 Season
Received a medical hardship while recovering from a knee injury.

2009 Season
Appeared in 24 matches (one start), including 44 sets while backing up Melissa Melcher at setter…averaged 3.48 assists and 0.93 digs per set…finished with three kills, no errors and eight attacks (.375 hitting percentage)…season-high 36 assists came at home against Montana…also had 19 assists and a solo block in a win at San Jose State…had 14 assists and a season-high nine digs at Northern Colorado.

High School
A 2009 graduate of Capital High School in Boise, Idaho…played four years of varsity volleyball, three years of varsity tennis, and one season of varsity basketball…in volleyball, she was a four-time all-Southern Idaho Conference selection – including a two-time team captain – and played at both setter and outside hitter for the Eagles…during her senior season, she averaged 3.5 kills, 2.8 digs, 4.0 assists and 0.8 service aces per set to go along with a .572 hitting percentage…also during her senior season (2008), she posted nine triple-doubles (kills, assists and digs)…led the team in assists and hitting percentage in three of her four seasons, and paced the team in kills on two occasions…named to the Southern Idaho Conference all-academic team all four years…recipient of the President’s Award for educational excellence in 2006…member of the tennis team which won the state and league championships in 2007.

Personal

A child development major…daughter of Ted and Wendy Hettinga…played for the Boise River Volleyball Club for six years, including two seasons under former Sacramento State assistant coach Candy Murphy…father, Ted, played two years of basketball (1980-82) at Big Sky Conference rival Northern Arizona and was the team MVP during the 1980-81 season…grandfather, Ron Yochem, played football for Illinois in 1955.
