SENIOR (2023): Made 27 appearances on the mound as the Hornets’ closer, finishing the year with a 4-2 record and a 4.15 ERA to go along with 11 saves on the year… Finished the season leading the WAC in saves, while ranking tied for fifth in appearances… Ranked tied for No. 14 in the NCAA in saves... His 11 saves matched his 2022 total and rank tied for second on the school’s single-season list… He leaves Sacramento State ranked second on the career saves list with 26 and has the highest strikeout per nine innings total of any Hornet (11.11), breaking Tanner Dalton’s mark of 9.83… His 11.94 strikeouts per nine innings in 2023 are also a single-season best, passing Parker Brahms’ mark of 10.90 in 2018… Finished with 46 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work, walking only 12 and holding opponents to a .229 average… Picked up the save in each of his first three appearances on the year against North Dakota State twice (2/18 and 2/19) and St. Thomas (2/25)… Threw a season-high 2.2 innings against UT Rio Grande Valley (5/7)… Struck out a season-high in two innings of work to earn the save against Central Michigan (3/8)… Posted wins in relief against Grand Canyon (3/18), Pacific (4/10), New Mexico State (4/28), and the Tigers once again (5/16)… At one point, led the nation with his seven saves to go with an 0.68 ERA following the series at Abilene Christian at the end of March… Allowed only one run over his first 10 appearances (13.1 innings) on the year, scattering only two hits and striking out 20 batters against only four walks.

SENIOR (2022): Made 26 appearances in relief as the Hornets’ closer, finishing the year with a 3-4 record and a 3.21 ERA… Led the team with 11 saves on the season — good for a tie for second on the school’s single-season list, third in the Western Athletic Conference, and No. 18 in the NCAA… Struck out 53 against only 11 walks over 47.2 innings of work, holding opponents to a .226 average… Earned the win in each of his first three appearances on the season, scattering just four hits and striking out six over eight innings… Picked up his first save of the season at Seattle U, striking out two over an inning of work on March 18… Picked up the save in three straight appearances at Saint Mary’s (April 26) and against California Baptist on April 29 and May 1… Duplicated that effort with saves at Fresno State (May 10) and twice against Utah Valley on May 13-14… Threw at least three innings of relief six times and threw at least two innings 14 times… Struck out a season-high six batters in three shutout innings, allowing just one run against Seattle U on April 16… Allowed only one run on seven hits over his last seven appearances… Opened the year without allowing a run in his first 13.1 innings.

JUNIOR (2021): Appeared in a team-leading 28 games during the 2021 season, all in relief... Was 7-2 with four saves and a career-best and team-leading 2.45 ERA... Was dominant as a reliever all season, and did not allow a run in 20 of his 28 outings... Held opponents to one run or fewer in 26 of his 28 outings... Threw 40.1 innings, including a season-high 3.0 innings in three straight games from March 27 through April 11... Did not allow a run over that stretch... Took over as the team's closer midway through the season, recording a career-high four saves... His seven wins were also a career high... Struck out 50 while walking just 10 in 40.1 innings, good for an 11.16 K/9... Struck out three or more in eight different games, including a season and career-high six on March 29 at home against No. 24 Stanford... Struck out three in what may have been one of the most exciting appearances of his career, entering in the bottom of the ninth with a 4-2 lead and the bases loaded at Northern Colorado on April 23, striking out the side to save the game... Opponents hit just .228 against Zalasky, the best mark on the team.

SOPHOMORE (2020): Appeared in five games in the shortened 2020 season of Hornets baseball, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.70 ERA... All five of his appearances came in relief... Threw 10.0 innings, including a season-high 3.2 on Feb. 20 against Milwaukee... Scattered eight hits and two walks, allowing three runs (all earned)... Struck out 16 in just 10.0 innings, good for a 14.40 K/9, highest on the team among all pitchers... Threw multiple innings in three of his five games, including two complete innings or more twice... Did not allow a run in three of his five games... Allowed one hit or fewer in three of his five games... Opponents hit just .216 against Zalasky.

FRESHMAN (2019): Pitched in nine games for the Hornets in his debut season, posting a 1-0 record with a 4.05 ERA... All nine appearances were in relief... Threw a season-high 2.0 innings of shutout baseball in an 8-2 win at home over UC Davis... Struck out seven total batters in 6.2 innings of work, including two in two games... Allowed just one extra base hit in his nine appearances... Induced one of the most exciting double plays of the season to help the Hornets escape a jam and defeat Grand Canyon, 2-1, at home late in the season.

ELK GROVE HS
Honorable mention All-Metro selection by the Sacramento Bee and an All-Delta League honoree in 2018 as a senior, finishing 3-4 with a 2.39 ERA in nine appearances... Helped the Thundering Herd to a Delta League title and a section championship in 2017, posting a 1.71 ERA.

Parents are Patrick and Traci... Has a brother, Alex... Father played baseball for the Hornets, while his grandfather played football at Sacramento State... His brother played baseball at Concordia in Irvine, Calif.
