Biography

SENIOR (2015): Pitched in 13 games with 10 starts...Saw innings increase over the season as he continued to recover from Tommy John surgery...Went 2-5 with a 5.13 ERA in 40.1 innings pitched...Was the team's primary mid-week starter...Totaled 20 strikeouts to just six walks...Earned wins in his last two starts, allowing just one run on two hits in six innings vs. UC Davis and allowing three runs in five innings in Sacramento State's 9-3 win over Utah Valley in the WAC Tournament...Started and allowed just two runs on six hits in five innings at No. 15 Iowa...Held opposing hitters to a .244 batting average in home games (five appearances)...Had three assists and one putout defensively. 

LONG BEACH STATE: Played three seasons at Long Beach State and redshirted in 2014 due to injury...Compiled a 5-5 record with a 3.37 ERA over 120.1 innings pitched...Became a starter as a junior in 2013, making 12 starts and 16 appearances and going 4-4 with a 3.32 ERA and 38 strikeouts over 81.1 innings pitched...Pitched four innings of scoreless relief against UCLA while striking out seven batters...Made 19 appearances out of the bullpen in 2012 and went 1-0 with a 3.43 ERA and one save over 21.0 innings...Was a two-way player as a freshman in 2011, making 10 appearances and three starts on the mound with an 0-1 record and 3.50 ERA over 18.0 innings...Also played in 14 games as a position player, making six starts in right field and at designated hitter...Hit .167 in limited at-bats.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played three seasons as a pitcher and outfielder at Yuba City HS...WAS A three-time section champion with the Honkers and was a three-time first-team all-conference selection...Hit .446 as a sophomore while posting a 6-2 record with a 2.20 ERA...Went 9-1 with 93 strikeouts and a 1.58 ERA as a junior...Set school record with a 0.74 ERA after going 9-1 for the second straight season in 2010...Finished the season with 100 strikeouts in 66.1 innings pitched.

PERSONAL: A graduate student at Sacramento State using his final year of athletic eligibility...Parents are Jim and Racquelle Stassi...Father Jim was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1982 and played two seasons in the minor leagues, reaching AAA...Brother Max was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 4th round in 2009 and is now a catcher for the Houston Astros...Brother Brock played at Nevada and is a first baseman in the Phillies organization...Aspires for a career in real estate...Pursuing a masters degree in business management.
