SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's soccer team rounded out its roster for the 2026 campaign, gaining a commitment from local standout Adrian Alvarenga.
A 5-foot-8 winger from Roseville, Calif., Alvarenga spent two years at Oakmont HS before moving to Southern California and continuing his training with the LA Galaxy Academy squad for his junior and senior years. He helped the club to a finals appearance in the Generation adidas Cup, then won back-to-back MLS NEXT Cup championships while training alongside the the LA Galaxy II side — now known as Ventura County FC.
Alvarenga then returned home and joined the Sac Republic U19 squad, helping the club to a league championship and a berth in the quarterfinals of the MLS NEXT Cup.
During his first two prep years, he finished with an assist in a pair of appearances with Oakmont HS as a freshman, then broke out as a sophomore, scoring 20 goals and assisting on five others in 16 matches. He was an all-league selection for the Vikings and was named team MVP that year while setting the school record for points in a single-season.
