VOLLEYBALL SIGNS UTSA SETTER MAKENNA WIEPERT

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State head volleyball coach Ruben Volta announced today that UTSA setter Makenna Wiepert has transferred to play for the Hornets, and will enroll at the University this fall. 

Wiepert, who spent three seasons at UTSA (medical redshirt in 2024), will have two years of eligibility at Sacramento State.

• A 5-foot-11 setter from Sherwood, Ore.
• Spent the past three seasons (2023-25) at UTSA of the American Athletic Conference
• Helped set a 6-2 offense all three years with the Roadrunners
• In three seasons at UTSA, she averaged 5.22 assists and 1.81 digs per set
• Tallied 51 kills, 799 assists, 42 aces and 277 digs during her career at UTSA
• Last season, she had seven matches with double-digit assists
• As a sophomore (2024), she appeared in seven matches before suffering a season-ending injury
• Named to UTSA Invitational all-tournament team in 2024, while averaging 5.46 assists and 2.39 digs per set
• As a freshman (2023), she split time as the starting setter, finishing with 6.09 assists and 1.60 digs per set
• Had four double-doubles, and received Honor Roll honors twice for conference player of the week
• A 2023 graduate of Wilsonville High School in Wilsonville, Ore.
• Led the Wildcats to four straight conference championships
• Was unanimous first team all-state, conference player of the year, and team captain as a senior
• Three-time all-conference selection
• Played club for Athena Volleyball Academy
