STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Sacramento State women's tennis team posted its fourth win in the last five matches on Sunday morning, beating the anticipated rain and host Pacific by a 4-0 score at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center in Stockton, Calif.

The Hornets, whose three previous matches had all been decided by 4-3 scores, improved to 5-3 overall on the season with their second shutout of the year. The Tigers remained winless on the year with the defeat, falling to 0-6.

Staked to an early lead by winning the doubles point, Sacramento State added singles victories at the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 spots in the lineup en route to the win.

In doubles, the tandem of Cami Maldonado Gutierrez and Reese Walker were the first off with a 6-4 win at No. 3 before redshirt junior Lou Baudouin and Irene Riva eased to a 6-3 win at the top spot for a 1-0 lead in the match overall.

Riva quickly made it 2-0 with the start of singles, earning a straight-set, 6-2, 6-0, win over Rayna Sugai. Senior Palina Saulevich put Pacific's backs against the wall with a 6-2, 6-3, win at No. 6 before Maldonado Gutierrez ended the match early with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Cindy Ung at No. 4.

Saulevich's victory in singles was her fifth straight, improving her to 6-2 overall on the spring as did Maldonado Gutierrez, who won for the second time at the No. 4 spot in the lineup after playing five matches at No. 5. Riva evened her record at 4-4 with her win.

Sunday's match marked the first of six straight matches on the road for the Hornets, who trek to Southern California for contests at Long Beach State on Saturday (Feb. 21) and San Diego State on Sunday (Feb. 22) -- both at 11 a.m.
