1. Breakfast With The Hornets
Sacramento State will play its earliest game in program history as the team has a 9 a.m. PT kick at Bowling Green on Saturday. The game will also be the first in the state of Ohio for the Hornets. The time shouldn't be a shock to the team as Sacramento State regularly practices at 9 a.m. during the season.

2. Heisman Hype
Bowling Green is coached by Eddie George who is in his second season leading the Falcons. George won the Heisman Trophy following the 1995 season after setting the Ohio State record with 1,927 and 24 touchdowns. He went on to play nine seasons in the NFL and was the NFL Rookie of the Year (1996) and a first team All-Pro (2000). George is the only active NCAA head coach who has won the Heisman Trophy and is one of just a handful to make the transition to the sideline. Others include Steve Spurrier and Pat Sullivan.

3. Well-Rested Hornets
Sacramento State is coming off its first of two bye weeks during the year. The team practiced early in the week before getting a couple of days away from the field. The Hornets are 7-2 following a bye in the last nine years.

4. Tracking The Pros
Former Sacramento State players had some movement on NFL rosters in the last weeks. Jackson Slater has been placed on the injured list with a foot injury. The setback came after Slater played 93% of the offensive snaps for the team at the New York Giants. After reaching an injury settlement with the Houston Texans at the end of training camp, Marte Mapu was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad on Monday. There remains two active former Hornets in the NFL with Cam Skattebo rushing for 235 yards and a TD for the Giants and Daron Bland recording 18 tackles for the Cowboys.
