FORMER HORNET ADAMS MAKES MAJOR LEAGUE DEBUT ON THE MOUND WITH MINNESOTA

Adams becomes the fifth Sacramento State baseball alum to appear in a Major League game this season and the 10th in the history of the program

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State baseball alum Travis Adams became the latest Hornet to make his Major League Debut in the Minnesota Twins' walk-off win over Tampa Bay on Saturday afternoon (July 5) in Minneapolis.

Originally called up to the big-league club back on June 6 prior to the Twins' three-game home series against Toronto — which featured another former Hornet in outfielder Nathan Lukes — the right-hander became the fifth Sacramento State baseball player to appear in a Major League game this season on Saturday against the Rays and the 10th Hornet in the program's history to reach the majors.

Adams was recalled to Minnesota earlier in the day and entered in the third inning, pitching four innings and picking up his first Major League strikeout in the sixth by retiring Josh Lowe.

He opened the 2025 season on the Twins' 40-man roster and appeared in 13 games (two starts) for the organization's Triple-A affiliate in St. Paul prior to his first call-up, posting a 3-1 record with a 3.43 ERA and three saves in four chances. Over 42 innings of work, he scattered just 38 hits, allowed 16 earned runs, and struck out 37 while holding opposing hitters to a .238 average.

Last season, he split time between Double-A Wichita and St. Paul, striking out a career-high 109 hitters with the Wind Surge against only 28 walks in 108 innings, posting a 5-7 record and a 3.67 ERA before getting promoted.

A native of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Adams was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (189th overall) in the 2021 MLB Draft. He finished his Hornets' career with a 10-6 record and a 3.75 ERA, allowing 151 hits in 151 innings while striking out 130 batters against 25 walks in his three seasons.

As a senior in 2021, he finished 6-3 overall with a 4.31 ERA and a career-high 72 strikeouts in 14 starts, helping Sacramento State to 35 wins and a third-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference.
