MEN’S BASKETBALL SIGNS FORMER FOUR-STAR GUARD MIKEY WILLIAMS

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State head coach Mike Bibby announced today that high-profile guard Mikey Williams will transfer from UCF, and join the Hornets for the 2025-26 season.

Williams becomes the fifth player to sign with the Hornets since Bibby was named head coach on April 1. He joins senior forwards Jeremiah Cherry and Shaqir O'Neal, as well as freshmen guards Romari Robinson and Taj Glover. Local product Mark Lavrenov, a forward, also signed with the program during the early signing period prior to Bibby's arrival.

• A 6-3, 193-pound guard from San Diego
• Played the 2024-25 season at UCF of the Big 12 Conference, after redshirting with Memphis (American Athletic Conference) during the 2023-24 season
• Will be a sophomore with the Hornets
• A four-star recruit out of high school, he was ranked as the No. 19 overall player in the nation by 247Sports in the class of 2023
• Also in the class of 2023, he was named the No. 4 combo guard in the country by On3 Consensus - the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies
• Last season, at UCF, he played in 18 games (five starts). Missed 19 games due to injury
• Averaged 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds for the Knights
• Scored a season-high 14 points twice - vs. Iowa State, and at Oklahoma State. Also scored in double figures vs. TCU
• Grabbed a season-high seven rebounds at Oklahoma State, and vs. Kansas State
• Did not see any game action at Memphis in 2023-24, earning a redshirt
• Named the 2019-20 MaxPreps national freshman of the year and after averaging 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals while leading San Ysidro High School (San Diego) to the CIF-San Diego Section title.
• Scored a San Diego Section single-game record 77 points with nine 3-pointers as a freshman in a 116-52 win over Kearny High School
• Played for San Ysidro HS during both his freshman and senior seasons. Averaged 23.8 points, 9.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds during his senior season
• Spent his sophomore season at Lake Norman Christian Academy in Davidson, N.C.
• As a junior, he played at Vertical Academy in Charlotte where he was rated the No. 1 junior in North Carolina
• That season at Vertical Academy, he averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.0 assists while playing in showcase tournaments across the country
• A social media star, Williams has a combined 5.4 million followers across Instagram and TikTok
