OGDEN, Utah -- The Sacramento State women's tennis team's winning streak grew by one on Friday as the Hornets clinched their sixth consecutive victory and their fifth-straight shutout following a 7-0 road win at Big Sky Conference rival Weber State.

Sacramento State improved to 13-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play, having not dropped a point since a 5-2 victory over Portland on March 6. During their run, the Hornets have lost only two doubles matches during their shutout streak and have been forced to a third set in singles only twice.

With the loss, the Wildcats remained winless on the year at 0-16 overall and 0-5 in the Big Sky.

After sweeping through doubles to start the day with a 1-0 lead, Sacramento State proceeded to take five of the six singles contests in straight sets, including shutout sets from Maddy Ferreros at No. 1 against Sydney Schnell, Lou Baudouin over Yangpingan Li at No. 3, and Irene Riva against Aleksandra Bozinovska at No. 6. 

Riva remained undefeated at 8-0 in singles play with her 6-3, 6-0, win over Bozinovska, while Elena Mercioiu and Emilija Pranyte extended their respective singles winning streaks to six consecutive matches with wins on Friday. Mercioiu defeated Savannah Johnson, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5, while Pranyte posted a 6-4, 6-3, win over Alicia Celorio Morales at No. 4.

Baudouin clinched the match with her 6-3, 6-0, win over Li at No. 3 — her team-best fourth match-clincher of the season — while reigning Big Sky Player of the Week Reese Walker defeated Jessica Hill, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2. 

Ferreros was the only Hornet pushed to three sets, losing the first in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5), before bouncing back with her dominating shutout in the second set. She then outlasted Schnell, 10-8, in the third-set tiebreaker to wrap-up the day.

Sacramento State closes out its road trip on Sunday (March 30) at 11 a.m. PT, traveling to Pocatello, Idaho, to take on Idaho State.
