SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The reconstruction of the Sacramento State football team continued with the addition of 18 student-athletes in the spring signing period. The group is comprised of nine offensive players and eight defensive players. Combined with 11 players signed during the early signing periods and the transfers prior to the spring semester, the Hornets are set to welcome 58 new players to the team in 2025.

The spring signing class has garnered national attention as the top-ranked class in the FCS. The group includes the highest rated FCS quarterback (
Jamar Malone) and well as the top-rated wide receiver (
Drey Garner). The class comes from around the country with players hailing from six states. The bulk of the class resides in California including safety
Lono Chouteau (Inderkum HS), running back
Elias Brown (Rocklin HS/American River JC) and wide receiver
Dontae Robinson. There are also ties to Sacramento State's past with the addition of linebacker
Jackson Cahoon who follows his father J.B. Cahoon's footsteps as a Hornet.

Sacramento State will begin its spring practices on March 17. The team will start the 2025 season at South Dakota State on Aug. 30 and will play its first home game against Mercyhurst on Sept. 13. The home schedule also includes games against Central Arkansas, Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, Montana and Idaho.
