SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Brennan Marion announced today that he will resign as the head football coach at Sacramento State to become the offensive coordinator at Colorado.

Mark Orr said. "We look forward to continuing the success of Sacramento State football and will begin a national search for our next head coach immediately."

Marion was hired as the 13
th head football coach in school history on Dec. 21, 2024. During his time with the Hornets, he twice secured the top-ranked recruiting class in the FCS. This past season, the team finished with a 7-5 overall record and was 5-3 in Big Sky Conference games for sole possession of fourth place. Sacramento State ended the regular season ranked third in the FCS with 262.6 rushing yards per game and averaged 33.8 points per game.

Sacramento State is one of just 12 FCS programs to win at least seven games in five of the last six seasons. During that time, the team made four NCAA FCS Playoff appearances and was ranked in the top 25 for 50 weeks.
