MEN'S BASKETBALL BACK AT HOME FRIDAY - HOSTS JESSUP AT 7 PM

GAME PREVIEW

• Sacramento State (1-0) will play its second game of the Mike Bibby era on Friday night vs. Jessup (0-0). Tip-off at Hornet Pavilion is set for 7 p.m.
• The Hornets opened the season with a 103-79 victory over Dominican in a sold-out Hornet Pavilion on Tuesday night. 
• The Warriors, an NCAA Div. II member from Rocklin, Calif., are a member of the PacWest Conference. Dominican, who the Hornets beat on Tuesday, is also from the PacWest.
• The Hornets will attempt to begin a season 2-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 squad opened by winning its first three games.
• Sacramento State's 24-point win on Tuesday featured a well balanced offensive attack that saw five players score in double figures, and 10 players crack the scoring column. 
• The Hornets are 9-0 all-time vs. Jessup with the last victory coming via 89-59 score on Nov. 9, 2021, in the Nest. All nine of the matchups have come at home and each has been decided by double figures. The first meeting in the series came on Dec. 2, 2003.
• Bibby picked up his first collegiate win as a head coach after being named the 17th head men's basketball coach in program history on March 25, 2025. A fan favorite during his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings, Bibby has returned home to coach the Hornets.
• The Hornets finished last season with a 7-25 overall record and 3-15 in the Big Sky Conference. The team finished in last place (10th) for the second straight year.
• Bibby is the third Sacramento State head coach in three years, joining David Patrick (2023-24) and interim head coach Michael Czepil (2024-25).
• Friday is the second leg of a season-opening three-game homestand that features a game on Tuesday vs. UC Santa Barbara (7 p.m.), a team that was selected second in the Big West Conference preseason poll.
