LATE GOAL SINKS MEN’S SOCCER AT UC DAVIS IN FINALE

DAVIS, Calif. — Freshman Allbranly Gue tied the score with his third goal of the season in the 81st minute on Saturday night, but host UC Davis rallied for the go-ahead score with 1:50 remaining in the match, lifting the Aggies to a 2-1 victory over Sacramento State at Aggie Soccer Field.

The Hornets finish the 2025 season with a 2-12-4 overall record and a 1-6-2 record in Big West Conference play. UC Davis improved to 4-8-5 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play.

Following a scoreless first 45 minutes in which they held an 11-4 shot advantage, the Aggies were the first on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute as Cason Goodman scored for the 1-0 lead.

The advantage lasted all the way until the final 10 minutes when Gue was able to come through with the tying score off a Leonardo Martinez corner kick to tie it at one apiece.

Gue's score was his team-best third goal of the season and his seventh point, putting him tied atop the Hornets' scoring chart alongside teammate Donovan Sessoms to wrap up his first collegiate season. Martinez, meanwhile, notched his first point of the season with the assist and the second point of his Sacramento State career.

That set the stage for the winner off the foot of Zack Lillington, who put home a rebound of his own shot with just under two minutes to play to put his team ahead for good.

UC Davis finished with an 18-11 shot advantage, putting eight on frame to four for the Hornets. Sacramento State finished with 11 of the 14 corner kicks in the match — the most in a single contest since the Hornets finished with 11 at Saint Mary's back on Sept. 15, 2024, in a 4-2 win.

Goalkeeper Andres Rosales finished with six saves on the night, while Zac Giles led the team with three shots overall.
