SCOUTING CSUN
• Leading the league in victories entering this week's contests, the Matadors are 6-2-3 overall and 1-1 in Big West play
• CSUN split its conference-opening matches against UC Riverside (W, 1-0) and Cal State Bakersfield (L, 1-0) last week
• The Matadors have alternated wins and losses over their last four matches
• At home, CSUN is 3-1-1 at Matador Soccer Field,  suffering its first loss of the year last week against the Roadrunners
• Six players have accounted for the team's eight goals this year, but the defense has done twice as well, allowing just four scores all year
• Junior forward Enrique Pineda and junior midfielder Jorge Solorzano have combined to score half the team's goals with two apiece
• Only two of the team's eight goals have featured an assist
• Junior goalkeeper Dorian Drucks has played all but one match this year, posting a 0.40 goals against average and 49 saves (.925 save percentage) to go along with seven shutouts

SERIES NOTABLES
• CSUN leads the all-time series with Sacramento State, 15-9-3
• The Matadors are 8-4-3 at home against the Hornets and hold a narrow, 6-5-3, lead in the series as Big West rivals dating back to 2012
• Sacramento State won last year's meeting at home by a 5-0 score and is unbeaten in the last two meetings against CSUN following a 1-1 draw in 2023 on the road
• Northridge's last win in the series came in 2022 by the score of 2-1 in Sacramento, which interrupted a three-match (2-0-1) unbeaten streak by the Hornets from 2018-21
• Sacramento State is unbeaten in its last four regular season trips to Northridge (1-0-3), winning in 2019 (2-1) and finishing with draws in 2016 (0-0), 2021 (2-2), and 2023
• CSUN posted a 3-2 win in overtime in the 2017 Big West Tournament in Northridge

SCOUTING UC RIVERSIDE
• The Highlanders enter the week with a 2-5-3 overall record and an 0-2 mark in the Big West
• UC Riverside hosts UC San Diego on Wednesday before welcoming Sacramento State
• The Highlanders dropped both of their Big West opening matches last week, falling at home to CSUN (1-0) and on the road at UC Santa Barbara (3-0)
• UCR is winless in its last five contests (0-3-2), having not won since a 2-0 triumph against San Diego State at home on Sept. 8
• The Highlanders are 1-2-3 in six matches at home
• Eight different players have accounted for scores this season led by a trio of scores and eight points by graduate forward Edward Castro
• Junior goalkeeper Andrew Hermosillo has played every minute, posting a 1.50 goals against average and 34 saves (.694 save percentage)

SERIES NOTABLES
• UC Riverside narrowly leads the all-time series with Sacramento State, 9-8-3
• The Hornets posted a 2-1 win over the Highlanders at home last season
• The two programs have traded wins in each of the last six meetings dating back to back-to-back victories by Sacramento State in 2016 and 2017 by 2-1 scores
• The winning team has scored exactly two goals in each of the last nine meetings
• The Hornets have lost their last two trips to Riverside, last posting a 2-1 win in 2019
• UCR is 4-2-2 at home in the series and hold a 7-6 lead in the series since both have been Big West rivals beginning in 2012

ACCOUNT OPENED
• Sophomore Angad Singh became the seventh Hornet to find the back of the net this season when he scored his first career goal late in the match against Cal State Fullerton
• Assisting on that score were both sophomore Jonathan Dadzie and freshman Allbranly Gue, who tallied their first career helpers in a Sacramento State uniform

BUSY BOST
• Junior goalkeeper Lucas Bost didn't have much time to relax between the pipes last week, combining for 12 saves in matches with Cal State Bakersfield and Cal State Fullerton
• The five saves against the Roadrunners were just one shy of his career best at the time -- a mark that he surpassed three days later with seven stops against the Titans
• Bost's seven saves were tied for the most by a Hornet keeper this year, matching Andres Rosales who had seven stops in back-to-back starts against Pacific (Sept. 11) and San Francisco (Sept. 15) on the road

ON THE SPOT
• With Hiroshi Yang's penalty against Saint Mary's on Sept. 19, the Hornets have now converted their last 13 consecutive tries from the spot dating back to a miss against San Francisco on the road on Sept. 23, 2018
• Prior to that, Sacramento State made eight straight penalties, extending their streak to 21 of its last 22 dating back to 2015
• Sacramento State is 3-for-3 in penalties this season, adding makes against No. 13 Stanford and Pacific, matching its total from last season and posting the most makes from the spot since the Hornets were 4-for-4 in 2012

HORNETS IN THE BIG WEST
• Junior Donovan Sessoms and junior Zac Giles are tied for 10th in the league with 17 shot attempts apiece
• Giles ranks fifth in the Big West with nine shots on goal (0.90 per match)
• Sessoms' two assists have him tied for seventh in the Big West
Lucas Bost and his team-high 34 saves are third in the league entering this week's contests
• Bost ranks fourth in the conference with a .708 save percentage and third with 4.25 saves per match
• As a team, Sacramento State's 56 saves lead the Big West while the team's 5.09 saves per game are second behind UC San Diego (5.20)
