SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State head women's basketball coach Aaron Kallhoff has added the first piece of the puzzle to his 2023-24 roster as BYU transfer Sophia Lee has signed a grant-in-aid agreement to continue her academic and athletic career with the Hornets.
Lee, a local product who prepped at St. Mary's HS in Stockton, Calif., comes home after redshirting the 2022-23 campaign with the Cougars.
"I'm excited about the addition of Sophia to our roster," Kallhoff said. "She is a proven winner, a relentless worker with great character, and she will be a huge asset to our program."
The 5-foot-7 guard helped the Rams to a 21-8 record as a senior and a No. 11 ranking in the state, advancing all the way to the CIF state regional semifinals. During her prep career, Lee helped lead St. Mary's HS to four-straight Tri-City Athletic League crowns.
Also a member of the St. Mary's cross country team and serving as student body president, Lee played for the Jason Kidd Select AAU team and comes from a basketball family. Both her parents, Roderick and Georgia, played collegiately in Canada, while her sister, Jordan, is entering her senior year at St. Mary's HS.
