SACRAMENTO -- Seilala "Lala" Lautaimi, who spent the last two seasons playing at Skyline College has committed to continuing her academic and athletic career at Sacramento State, Head Coach Aaron Kallhoff announced Wednesday.
"Lala is a very tough and versatile offensive threat that will have an impact at both ends of the floor," Kallhoff said. "We are excited to have her as part of the Hornet Family."
A two-time All-Coast Conference first team selection, Lautaimi, a 5-10 guard from San Mateo, Calif., started 55 games for the Trojans over the last two seasons, averaging 17.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field for her career.
As a sophomore in 2022-23, she averaged 17.1 ppg and shot 48 percent from the field, grabbing 9.3 rebounds per contest and blocking 43 shots. She ranked ninth in the league with 128 offensive rebounds and No. 19 in total points (496).
The Trojans reached the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association Northern California Regionals, downing Marin, 64-59, in the opening round before falling to No. 5 San Joaquin Delta College.
That followed a freshman season when she averaged 16.9 ppg and shot just over 54 percent from the field, averaging 8.1 rebounds per game. She ranked seventh in the conference in field goal percentage and sixth in offensive rebounds with 134.
She enjoyed a decorated prep career at Aragon HS in San Mateo, Calif., helping the Dons to multiple CIF Central Coast Section Division II playoff appearances and a section title in 2019-20. Lautaimi was named team captain and MVP as a senior.
Lautaimi is the latest commitment for Kallhoff since being named head coach, joining BYU transfer Sophia Lee and France's Célestine Segrétain, and joins fall signees Paula Haw, Lina Falk, Summah Hanson, and Sofia Alonso for the 2023-24 campaign.
