MEN’S BASKETBALL SIGNS TULSA TRANSFER BRANDON BETSON

SACRAMENTO --  Sacramento State head men's basketball coach David Patrick signed his second player today, adding guard Brandon Betson, who will graduate from Tulsa this summer. Betson will have one season to play in a Hornet uniform.

A proven scorer at the Div. I level, Betson has averaged 12.0 points per contest during his two seasons of Div. I ball. That includes being named second team all-Western Athletic Conference two seasons ago after averaging 14.2 points at Chicago State.

• A 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard from Hercules, Calif.
• Has two seasons of Div. I experience, most recently with Tulsa (2022-23) of the American Athletic Conference, and Chicago State (2021-22) of the Western Athletic Conference
• Played in all 30 games this past season at Tulsa, starting each of the team's final nine contests
• Averaged 9.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.5 steals and 26.1 minutes per game while shooting 41% (63-154) from the 3-point line
• Scored in double figures 13 times, including a season-high 20 points vs. East Carolina
• Connected on at least one 3-pointer in 28 of 30 games, and made multiple 3-pointers in 21 contests
• A second team all-WAC selection at Chicago State after posting a team-high 14.2 points to go along with 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Shot 37% (79-213) from the 3-point line
• Scored in double figures in 27 of 32 games, including a career-best 31 points at Seattle on March 5, 2022
• In 62 career games of Div. I ball, he is averaging 12.0 points and 2.3 made 3-pointers per game on 39% shooting from distance and 83% from the free throw line
• As a sophomore in 2020-21, he was a first team all-league selection at Daytona State JC in Florida after averaging a team-high 17.3 points and registering seven 20+ point games
• As a freshman in 2019-20, he was a first team all-league choice at San Bernardino JC in Southern California after averaging 19.5 points, and scoring 20+ points in 12 contests
• Played four seasons of high school ball at Salesian College Prep in Richmond, Calif.
• Named all-region and all-conference while finishing prep career with averages of 17.2 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game
