MEN’S BASKETBALL SIGNS CENTRAL MICHIGAN TRANSFER EMIL SKYTTA

SACRAMENTO -- Head coach David Patrick announced that guard Emil Skytta will transfer from Central Michigan and enroll at Sacramento State as a redshirt freshman with four years of eligibility.

Skytta, a native of Helsinki, Finland, is the fourth Hornet signee of the 2023-24 recruiting class born overseas. He joins Chudi Dioramma (England), Bowyn Beatty (Australia) and Bailey Nunn (Australia).

• A 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Helsinki, Finland
• Appeared in six of Central Michigan's first seven games of the 2022-23 season, including one start
• Missed the remainder of the season with injury
• Played in a season-best 28 minutes at California Baptist
• Finished with season numbers of 77 minutes, 13 points, five assists and just three turnovers
• In his first collegiate game (at Marquette), he had five points, a rebound, one steal, and an assist
• Went to high school at Pohjois-Haaga Coeducational School (PHYK) in Finland for four years
• Played two years of professional ball (2020-22) for Helsingin NMKY of Finland's 1st Division
• Also played on the Finnish Under-18 National Team
• With Helsingin NMKY in 2021-22, he averaged 10.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game
• In 2020-21, Skytta averaged 9.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists
• Mother, Johanna Skytta, was a professional basketball player in Finland
• Had interest from over 35 NCAA schools prior to college
• That included offers from Valparaiso, Central Michigan, Montana State and UC Riverside
