Bridgette Smith led all players with 17 kills, and Sacramento State limited Idaho State to a .129 hitting percentage as the Hornets swept Idaho State, 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 26-24) on Saturday evening at the Nest.
The Hornets held the Bengals to 36 kills with 20 errors in 124 attacks, as the Hornets improved to 13-0 when limiting the opposition to a hitting percentage below .200. Smith was impressive all evening, tallying at least five kills in all three sets, and accounting for kills in three of Sacramento State's final four points of a set-ending 10-4 run in the third. It was a Smith ace at set point of the second that gave the Hornets a 2-0 lead.
With the victory, Sacramento State improved to 13-8 overall and 6-1 in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets had their five-match winning streak snapped on Thursday night vs. Weber State, but got back to their winning ways this evening. In addition, the Hornets are now 8-4 at home.
Sacramento State remains in a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings with Montana State and Weber State. There are nine matches left in the regular season. The Hornets' 6-1 record is the team's best mark after seven Big Sky matches since the 2017 team was 7-0.
Idaho State, which won at Portland State in four sets on Thursday, dropped to 4-14 overall and 2-5 in the Big Sky. Sacramento State improved to 41-16 all-time against the Bengals, including 24-5 when the teams play in the Nest.
The Hornets had 46 kills, 59 digs, and 10.0 team blocks as Idaho State hit below .070 in both the first and third sets. Sacramento State was aced just once all evening, and the Hornets had 16 more assists than ISU (44-32).
Smith's 17 kills were six more than any other player on the floor as she also finished with a .286 hitting percentage, nine digs and three blocks.
Caitlin Volkmann chipped in 10 kills, and
Kalani Hayes had seven kills, a .316 hitting percentage and match-high six blocks.
Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin posted four kills, four blocks and a .571 hitting percentage.

Kate Doorn had 22 assists and 12 digs, and
Abbey Kadillak added a season-best seven digs.
Ellie Tisko had four kills,
Hailey Plugge 12 assists and three digs, and

Tonight marked the second leg of a four-match homestand, which will see the Hornets play two more home contests next week. That includes Thursday vs. Montana at 7 p.m., and Saturday vs. Montana State at 1 p.m.
