POCATELLO, Idaho -- Idaho State scored in four different innings, capped by a six-run sixth, to beat Sacramento State, 10-0, in six innings on Saturday afternoon at Miller Ranch Stadium.

Despite the loss, the Hornets still won two of three games in the Big Sky Conference opening series, which included a doubleheader sweep yesterday. Today also marked the first time all season that Sacramento State (18-14, 2-1) had been mercy ruled.

Sacramento State has still won seven of its last nine games, and will resume Big Sky play next Friday-Saturday at home vs. Portland State.

The Hornets had trouble with Idaho State starting pitcher Haley Rainey (10-4) as she gave up just three hits with one walk and five strikeouts over seven innings. All three Sacramento State hits were singles, and Rainey faced just five batters over the minimum. Hornet hits came from Samantha Parish, Lexie Webb and Alexis Parish.

Idaho State's offense, which was held to four runs over two games yesterday, pounded three home runs today and had 11 hits over six innings. The score had been, 4-0, after five innings before the Bengals (17-16, 1-2) dropped a six-spot in the sixth inning (walkoff three-run homer from Mailee Newman).

The single for Webb extended her hitting streak to eight games, and she also had a nine-gamer earlier this season. Webb combined for four hits during the three-game series.

Marissa Bertuccio (10-4) got the loss for the Hornets as she worked five innings. Alyssa Nunez also saw time in the circle in relief.

Next week, Sacramento State will host Portland State in a doubleheader on Friday at noon, followed by a single game on Saturday at noon.
