MEN'S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO HAWAII FOR THE TWO-DAY NORTH SHORE CLASSIC

GAME PREVIEW

• Sacramento State (3-2) will travel to the state of Hawaii for the first time in the Div. I era (1991-pres.), and first time since 1983 when the Hornets compete at this week's North Shore Classic, which is being sponsored by Brooklyn Nets guard Patty Mills.
• The Hornets will play twice over two days at the Cannon Activities Center in Laie, O'ahu (homecourt of BYU-Hawai'i). They begin the tournament on Friday against tournament host Hawai'i (3-1) at 5:30 p.m. PST.
• On Saturday, depending on Friday's outcome, the Hornets will play either Texas State or Southern Utah at 6:30 p.m. PST.
• By the time Saturday's game concludes, the Hornets will have played three times over a five-day span. That includes Tuesday night's 82-71 loss to UC Davis at the Golden1 Center in which Sacramento State held a 12-point lead in the first half.
• Sacramento State head coach David Patrick and Patty Mills - both Australian natives- first crossed paths when Patrick recruited and coached Mills while Patrick was an assistant coach at Saint Mary's.
• The Hornets are currently 3-2, and Tuesday's loss snapped a three-game winning streak.
• Sacramento State will play its second and third straight neutral site games this week as the Golden1 Center game vs. UC Davis was a neutral floor.
• Hawai'i has yet to leave the state as the team has home wins over Mississippi Valley and Eastern Washington, and a neutral floor win (in O'ahu) against Hawaii Pacific. All three of those victories came by at least 18 points. The team's lone loss came at home to Yale in overtime by a 62-59 score.
• Sacramento State and Hawai'i have never faced one another despite the Hornets first playing basketball in 1948, and the Rainbow Warriors first year in 1912.
• Four of the Hornets' first five games have come against a UC institution. They are in a stretch that will see the team play seven of its first eight games away from home.
• The Hornets will be playing their third game against a Big West foe, and the team is 1-1 against the conference thus far (win at UC San Diego, loss vs. UC Davis).
• Newly annointed head coach David Patrick won his first Sacramento State road game at UC San Diego, first home game against UC Merced, and will now look to add his first neutral site win.
• The Rainbow Warriors rank 21st in the nation in scoring defense (55.5 ppg) and have held all four opponents to under 60 points in regulation thus far.
• Hawai'i is currently outrebounding its opponents by 10.0 boards per game, and is led by guard Noel Coleman's 15.8 points per contest.
