GAME PREVIEW
• Sacramento State will play its fifth game of the season when the Hornets (3-1) face UC Davis (3-1) in the annual rivalry game at Golden1 Center in downtown Sacramento.
• The game is part of a doubleheader that will see the Hornet women play UC Davis at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. It will mark the second straight year the Hornet women and men will play UC Davis at G1C in a doubleheader format.
• Tuesday will mark the sixth time in seven years the Hornets and Aggies will play at Golden1 Center. There was no game in 2000 because of the pandemic.
• Sacramento State has won three straight meetings at Golden1 Center (2021, 2019, 2018) after UC Davis won the first two meetings at the downtown arena (2017, 2016). In fact, there are zero players on the Aggie roster that have beaten the Hornets at Golden1.
• The Hornets and Aggies will be playing each other for the 120th time in the long standing rivalry. Sacramento State owns a 69-50 record in the series.
• The 119 meetings between the teams marks the longest rivalry for Sacramento State against any opponent since the first season of Hornet hoops in 1948-49. The two teams first played each other in 1948.
• Tuesday's game is officially a neutral site game, but UC Davis is the designated home team. The Hornets were the home team last season when they won, 75-63.
• The two teams have played on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving every season since the Golden1 Center series began in 2016.
• Golden1 Center scores between the two programs - SAC 75, UCD 63 in 2021; SAC 61, UCD 51 in 2019; SAC 58, UCD 55 in 2018; UCD 64, SAC 47 in 2017; UCD 81, SAC 72 in 2016.
• Tuesday will mark the fourth time in the first five games of the season Sacramento State will play a UC institution. Thus far, the Hornets are 2-1 against UC schools, including a season-opening loss to 7th-ranked UCLA, and wins over UC San Diego and UC Merced.
• Sacramento State is currently riding a three-game winning streak. Those three wins came over a seven-day span with two being road victories.
• The Hornets will attempt to become just the ninth Sacramento State team to win four straight games since joining the Div. I ranks in 1991, and first since the 2019-20 squad.
• In a series of firsts, newly annointed head coach
David Patrick won his first Sacramento State road game at UC San Diego, first home win vs. UC Merced, and will now look to add his first neutral site win.
• The football game between the two rivals went Sacramento State's way on Saturday in a 27-21 win. The football teams play on the Saturday before the Golden1 Center game.
• The Aggies are 3-1, and boast a win at Cal in the season opener, although Cal (0-4) has been bad this year with losses to three mid-major opponents. In reality, the Aggies' best win was a 75-60 home victory over Arkansas State, a team that went 18-11 last year.
• All four Aggie games this season have been decided by 10 points or more. UC Davis' only loss was an 85-75 road defeat at Loyola Marymount on Nov. 12.
