WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RALLIES FOR OVERTIME WIN OVER IDAHO

Box Score

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's basketball team rallied from 10 points down with just over five minutes to play in regulation for a 76-73 win over Idaho on Saturday afternoon at The Nest. The Hornets were led by double-doubles from Lianna Tillman and Isnelle Natabou to earn their third consecutive Big Sky Conference victory for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

Sacramento State improved to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in league games while the Vandals dropped to 4-13 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Trailing 61-51 with 5:33 remaining, the Hornets began their comeback with a pair of free throws from Summer Menke. After a defensive stop and a Sacramento State miss, Natabou came down with the rebound and was fouled on the putback attempt. She made both free throws to cut the deficit to 61-56.

Another Idaho miss led to Natabou splitting a pair of free throws and the team drew within three with her layup following a diving defensive rebound from Jazzy Carrasco with just under four minutes to play. The Vandals responded with a jumper from Beyonce Bea only to have Katie Peneueta knock down a straight-away three pointer to make it 63-61 with 2:41 remaining.

Bea pushed the lead back to four with another jumper before Natabou had consecutive baskets for Sacramento State to tie the game, 65-65, with 46 seconds remaining. After Natabou recorded a steal the Hornets had a chance to win the game in regulation but Tillman had two looks rattle off the rim in the final three seconds.

Once in overtime for the first time this season, Sacramento State never trailed. Carrasco made two free throws on the team's opening possession before Sydney Gandy tied the game with a jumper. Tillman then drove in for a layup and Carrasco made two more free throws to extend the lead to four. A Gandy three-pointer cut the lead to one before Tillman immediately responded with a pull-up jumper with 2:16 left in the period.

Neither team scored until the final 14 seconds when Tillman made a pair of free throws to make it a two-possession game at 75-70. Bea kept the Vandals alive with a three-pointer from the right elbow and Idaho was forced to foul Menke who made 1-of-2 from the line. Up by three, Sacramento State elected not to foul and Idaho's three-point attempt as time expired came up well short.

Tillman led all players with 26 points and a career-high tying 10 assists. Natabou scored 18 points and matched her career high with 22 rebounds. She is now one of four players in NCAA Div. I to have two 20-rebound games this season and the only player to have at least 22 rebounds in both games. Natabou also had two steals, a block and an assist.

Menke added 13 points and five rebounds and Carrasco had 10 points off the bench with a pair of three pointers and going 4-of-4 from the free throw line late in the game.

Sacramento State shot 45.0 percent from the field and was 8-of-23 from three-point range (34.8. percent). The team was 14-of-18 from the line and had a decided advantage over Idaho which made just 1-of-3 free-throw attempts during the game. In fact, neither team shot a free throw in the game until Natabou made one with 4:46 left in the third quarter. The Hornets then made 6-of-9 in the fourth quarter and was 7-of-8 in overtime.

Bea scored 21 to lead the Vandals. Gandy and Tiana Johnson each contributed 17 as the trio accounted for 55 of the team's 73 points.
