Box Score BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's soccer team (5-4-0) rallied late in Sunday's match against CSU Bakersfield (5-5-0), overcoming a 1-0 deficit by scoring three second-half goals to defeat the Roadrunners on the road.
The women's soccer team found themselves trailing 1-0 in the 19th minute after CSU Bakersfield's leading scorer Alexa Orrante stole the ball deep in Hornets' territory and scored past keeper Aaliyah Fesili from 16 yards out.
From there on, it was all Sacramento State, though, as the Hornets outshot the Roadrunners 19-11, including 11-5 in the second half. Eight of Sacramento State's shots were on goal while Bakersfield had just two.
Freshman Kylee Kim-Bustillos evened the match at one in the 48th minute with a clean goal from the middle of the field after receiving the cross from Andrea Boehm. For Kim-Bustillos, the goal was her team-leading fifth this season. Boehm kept the goals coming, scoring just six minutes later, her first of the season.
Ariana Nino added another goal for good measure, scoring her first of the season in the 67th minute of play.
Sacramento State women's soccer improved to 5-4-0 with the win. The aggressive second half was consistent with their style of play this year: they are outshooting opponents 51-48 in the second half and outscoring them 7-3.
The women's soccer team will head to Eastern Washington next, where they will take on the Eagles on Friday, September 22nd at 3 p.m. The team does not return home until Friday, September 29 when they will host North Dakota.
