STOCKTON, Calif. – Sacramento State took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning but Pacific drew even at 3-3 then plated three runs in the seventh inning to pick up a 6-3 win on Tuesday in Stockton.

Sacramento State (22-14) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end while Pacific (16-18) picked up its sixth straight win.

The Hornets scored three runs while recording just four outs to start the game. Senior Chis Lewis stayed hot with a leadoff double in the top of the first and, after moving to third on a Bronson Grubbs single, scored on a sacrifice fly from freshman Matt Smith.

Pacific got the first out in the top of the second before junior Brandon Hunley reached on an error. Sophomore Dan Deely followed with a double to score Hunley and senior Trent Goodrich singled him in with an ensuing RBI single.

Sacramento State had five hits in the first two innings to go ahead 3-0 but the Hornets were held to just two hits (both singles) for the remainder of the game. Pacific got a run in the bottom of the second, one in the fifth, and a third run in the sixth inning to tie the game.

In the seventh inning, the Tigers loaded the bases with one out on a single, double, and intentional walk. Junior Chad Perry came in and got a popup for the second out, but Nate Verlin and Lucas Halstead followed with consecutive singles to bring in three runs.

The Tigers outhit the Hornets 13-8 but both teams tallied a pair of doubles. Deely was 2-for-3 to lead the Hornets offensively while five Tigers had multi-hit games with Halstead going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs.

Taylor Johnson started for Pacific and allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks over six innings. Fineas Delbonta Smith was the first of three Tiger relievers and picked up the win. Junior Tanner Olson allowed just three runs (two earned) for the Hornets over 5.1 innings. Both teams issued just one walk in the game.

Sacramento State heads to Edinburg, Texas for a WAC series starting Friday against UT Rio Grande Valley (formerly Texas Pan American).
