WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT NORTHERN COLORADO

GREELEY, Colo. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team lost a 2-0 decision at reigning Big Sky Conference regular season champion Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon. 

The Hornets (3-5-2, 1-1 Big Sky) split their opening weekend in conference play, with a win at league newcomer North Dakota on Friday before losing at UNC on Sunday.

It was scoreless at halftime but the Bears received goals from Mallory Van Hout in the 68th minute and Tara Rickenbach in the 81st minute to salt the game away. Van Hout was assists by Juliana Grover and Madison Yoswa while Alexsys Tamayo and JJ Wykstra helped on Rickenbach's goal. 

Shelby Tomasello, fresh off her third shutout of the season at UND, started in goal and allowed both scores with three saves. It was the first time the Hornets started the same keeper in consecutive games. Tomasello was in a battle with sophomore Kimberly Mata for the starting keeper job.

UNC keeper Natalie D'Adamio tallied the clean sheet win with three saves as well. 

Northern Colorado had a 14-8 edge in shots, including 9-1 in the second half, and a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Sacramento State plays host to Big Sky Conference foes Eastern Washington and Montana next weekend.
