SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Isaac Ikyurav's second goal of the contest was a game-winner in overtime and the Sacramento State men's soccer team defeated UNLV, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Hornet Field.

The Hornets (3-4-1) won their final non-conference game of the season as they begin their inaugural campaign in the Big West Conference next weekend at UC Irvine and CSU Northridge. The Rebels (2-7-1) dropped their second straight game.

Ikyurav put the Hornets on the board with his first goal of the season in the 22nd minute. Senior midfielder Alex Lopez found a sprinting Ikyurav on the far sideline and the junior from Nigeria bombed a ball into the back of the net after beating his defender one-on-one.

UNLV scored two unanswered goals, including a penalty kick in the 38th minute. The Rebels' second goal came in the 59th minute but the Hornets tied it up soon after.

Less than a minute after UNLV took the lead, junior Gabe Silveira scored on another penalty kick opportunity. Silveira scored his third goal of the season as he went right and the keeper dove left.

Regulation time ended in a 2-2 draw but Ikyurav ended the game less than five minutes into extra time. Senior Chris Sandoval battled for a ball on the right wing and eventually secured it and sent a cross into the box. Senior Max Alvarez and UNLV keeper Joe Vitale met the ball at the same time but Alvarez was able to use the back of his foot to flick the ball free. The ball found Ikyurav alone in the box and the junior buried it into an open net.

Overall, Sacramento State had a 7-5 edge in corner kicks but UNLV had a whopping 20-8 advantage on shots. Sacramento State keeper Bryan Oliver made eight saves while allowing two goals while Vitale allowed three goals with one save.
