Samm Brockel, MS ATC

Samm Brockel joined the Sacramento State sports medicine team in September 2022 as an Associate Head Athletic Trainer after successful stops at UC Davis and San Francisco. She is responsible for men's basketball and men's golf along with assisting other sports.
 
Brockel worked with the UC Davis men's basketball and men's golf teams from 2018-22. She previously worked with San Francisco’s women's basketball and men's golf teams.
 
Brockel attended San Francisco State on a woman's basketball scholarship graduating cum laude in 2011 with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. In 2012, she was accepted into UT Chattanooga master of science athletic training program, serving as a graduate assistant before graduating in 2014. Brockel was an athletic training intern with the Samford football and softball teams. From there, she accepted a fellowship with UC Davis working with field hockey and softball from 2015-17.  
 
Brockel is certified in:
  • QPR technique for suicide prevention
  • PRI myokinematics, pelvis restoration, postural respiration
  • Dry needling level 1
  • Graston Technique M1
  • Myofascial cupping
  • Corrective exercise specialist
She also has proficiencies in blood flow restriction and functional movement screening. 
 
Samm is an avid cyclist and loves to camp, paddle board, golf and hang out with friends and family.
